Sprint Everything Data does not allow tethering

I just got a new Samsung Moment for my wife and our bill went up $129 a month. I was told it is because you are required it have the everything data plan with this phone. We have the everything messaging (texting) plan and added on a few data options to allow for tethering. According to Sprint the everything data plans does not allow you tether your phone which I assume means no internet sharing of any kind.
This leaves me with a few bad options
1) Return the phone that my wife has waited a long time for
2) Move all phones to the everything data plan and lose my ability to use the phone as a modem or pay big bucks to do so
3) Split the account into separate plans. The cheapest data plan for that phone is $69 and then I still have my $125-$150 plus for everyone else, again big bucks I do not have
4) Find another carrier that will cost more but allow me to do what I need with the phone. I have been with Sprint over 12 years and hate to leave but I am forced to upgrade to features I will not use (Sprint TV, Navigation, etc) and lose the features I have grown to depend on I am not sure if

Right now I have a mogul but was going to upgrade to TP2. The TP2 requires the same thing so I am not sure if I can afford to move now.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Is there anything that can be done to get the TP2 to tether and not violate sprints policies? I searched the forums and this appears to be a little unique situation.

You can follow the policies and pay extra, or you can do what most people do here, and use the work-around for tethering, or one of the wifi tethering systems, and avoid having to pay the extra charge for tethering service. You'll still need to have a data plan for the TP2 (not sure about anything for your other phone), but many people have been tethering with their unlimited data plans and no tethering plan on the TP2 since it's release.

According to Sprint when you have the Everything data plan you cannot add on phone as a modem or tethering in any way. They say you cannot pay extra for it other than getting an air card at 59.99 a month. Are those people that are doing on the EVerything plan? I was told that a new TP2 purchase/upgrade requires that plan also

Re: Sprint Everything Data does not allow tethering

Sprint says TP2 does require it. Either way I am stuck because I am forced into everything plan is because of Samsung moment. I have a mogul and if it dies my replacement is TP2 (most likely) and according to sprint I am back in the same boat. Any suggestions would be helpful. I may have to return that other phone today as I am running out of time to return.

I can also say that they do not know what they are talking abt... sorry... but that is a fact.

Most reps are confused over this new policy where Sprint allow you to get Pre or Android phones etc without the $70 plan... and the yare assuming that TP2 is also in tha tleague.

It DOES NOT need teh everything plan... plain and simple. Ask for their manager, challenge them nicely..

Re: Sprint Everything Data does not allow tethering

As long as unlimited PHONE data is covered in the plan, a touch pro2 with the proper software (HTC's Mobile WIFI, others) will not require additional tethering fees. This is how I understood it, am I correct in assuming this?

Just got off the phone with yet another Sprint rep and they told me that a new phone (Moment, TP2, etc) must have the Everything data plan for 2 months and then you can drop it back to whatever you want. Even his manager said the same thing.

This makes no since at all. No matter what I do I am stick with paying a much higher monthly bill or having to pay a premium up front to keep the phone.

The Moment, yes. TP2, again, it does not. they dont know what theyre talking about. call 212-645-0252. Ask a rep there about the TP2, theyll tell you it doesnt require everything data. And you also cant change the plan after. If an of ESN from any of those phones I mentioned are active, the system will not let you change it. Period
