First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
The first engagement between Big Blue AT&T and Big Red Verizon has apparently been won by the Red corner as Cnet reports that an Atlanta federal judge has declined to grant AT&T a temporary restraining order to force Verizon to stop showing those adverts. As we know, AT&T files the lawsuit after Verizon Wireless Campaign brought aspersions on AT&T network coverage and AT&T say the Verizon ads mislead customers. AT&T does not dispute that the maps are correct in terms of 3G coverage, but says Verizon is misleading people by implying they can’t use their mobile phone or surf the web when not in a 3G area. AT&T state that customers can use their mobile phone and access the net by using AT&T’s GPR or EDGE networks which are slower than 3G. Verizon on the other hand says all it is doing is pointing out that AT&T hasn’t invested enough in upgrading their network. Although AT&T has lost this first engagement to Verizon they have stated that they will continue to press on with the lawsuit. So round one to Verizon, but I’m sure AT&T will come back fighting in what looks like is going to be a long drawn out tit-for-tat battle. From: http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2009/1...-legal-battle/

I know right?
I bet Verizon is laughing all the way to the bank... I'm just bummed it took them soooooo long to get on at&t about it. Those ad guys just got a huge bonus I bet lol |

Re: First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
Maybe my former carrier (big red) should advertise an even bigger dose of what hurts called the truth just to publicly humiliate AT&T.

Re: First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
Those adds are funny and catchey but like most commercials they will be old and forgotten long before the time AT&T wins this
Why fight a uphill battle AT&T??? And the waste of $$ will be passed to its customers to foot the bill, bank on that!

Re: First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
AT&T still has maps up in their retail store windows of their coverage, but it says nothing about 3G. I'll take a pic and post it.
Yay for Verizon! Glad to see I'm getting all my money's worth... most expensive provider... but I've been a loyal subscriber for 9 years!

At&t said they cover 97% of the country or their customers or something, but I don't think they said 97% of 300million people...lol Plus why hasn't this dispute spilled over to Sprint? How come no one attacks Sprints coverage? Not that I want them to, I am particularly happy with Sprint. Any thoughts??

Re: First Blood to Verizon in AT&T vs. Verizon Legal Battle
IMHO Sprint's coverage isn't that bad....I've had them for 4 years and wides had verizon and sprint. The only time Sprint is terrible is when we travel but others say diff. Maybe that's why.......
I loved consumer reports this year by the way! Verizon was first and AT&T was dead last in almost every ranking.
