HELP! (setting up account w/ Sprint)

Ok heres the problem, well more of a concern.

i am not sure of what to do, mainly because i am getting conflicting answers from different sprint reps. What i am trying to do is buy a SERO 500 from somebody on this site, i do not have an existing phone line or account with Sprint. so i had to call and get my credit checked, so i did. a rep told me i would have to put $100 down and i could have 2 lines on my account, with a $150 spending limit.

i was talking with the owner of the SERO 500, he told me to call sprint back and pay the $100 down payment then send him the cash for the SERO 500, & a Samsung Reclaim. the deal was all set i had paypal'ed dude the cash. then i called sprint to have the $100 payed. the lady on the phone with sprint told me, in order to pay the 100, i HAD TO order a phone, plus sign up for an account, she suggested the everything data plan, i told her "Now why do i have to get a plan, when i just told you i was buying a sero 500, are you trying to trap me in a plan then i will have to terminate the account & pay the $200" she said something to the matter of "in order to pay your deductable you need to order a phone and put that phone on a plan also.

WHY DO I NEED TO BUY A PLAN AND ORDER A PHONE, when i just told her all about how i was buying a SERO 500 and getting him phone, it makes no sence to me why i would need to sign up to a plan, for like 2 days, then when i recieve the phone from the man who was selling me the SERO 500, i would also recieve a phone from the Sprint. ? ? ?
Would i be able to return one of the phone, plus lets say if i had signed up for the everything data plan as the rep advised me to do, would i be able to do tha TOL for the SERO 500 & be rid with the plan the sprint rep made me sign with, or would it require me to pay a early termination fee to get the everything plan gone, and just have me SERO that i am purchasing on my account.

God this is so hard to explain, what i am basically saying is this: "Sprint rep is telling me the truth, or trying to get me suckered into a 2 year contract with no way out. i told her i am BUYING A SERO plan from my friend, and taking HIS PHONE also, she made it out to be like i had to sign for a plan, order a phone in order to pay my $100 deductable, which is just pointless to me to have to do it like that." would i be able to cancel out the expensive sprint plan with no hitch? & would i be possably be able to return one of the phones upon recieving them both?? (1 from sprint, 1 from seller of the SERO 500) which both would be brand new still in box.

please YOUR THOUGHTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I NEED TO GET THIS TOTALLY FIGURED OUT BECAUSE I AM READY TO GET MY SERO PLAN.

i am only getting the samsung reclaim because its basically a phone i am going to use for only a month, after that i will have saved enough money, which i would be upgrading to a Touch pro 2!!!!!

Re: HELP! (setting up account w/ Sprint)

have the person you are buying the sero from call *2 first, and tell the customer service person that he needs to do a transfer of liability for sero line (???) ???-????, the customer service rep will then call you three-way and start the process.

it gets trickier since you are not a full-on sprint customer but I think they should be able to handle the transfer of the sero line, provided you pay the $100 deposit when the rep who calls three-way so be ready with credit card/banking info.

If you don't have a credit card. You may be able to the transfer and just tell the rep that you will pay the $100 at a sprint store once the transfer is complete.

if the rep doesn't do the transfer call back again, some simply don't know how to do it, other reps are more familiar with the process, so you have to call back until you get a rep that knows how to do a transfer of liability.

also don't tell them you are buying/selling the sero line, tell them you are taking over the sero line using the 'transfer of liability'.

Re: HELP! (setting up account w/ Sprint)

ok thank you, +1

so basically the sprint rep asked me to sign up for a everything data plan for no reason? she was screwing me over, which is what i thought.

what about this idea: my mother has a old sprint account, with 2 lines already activated. she doesnt use it though, could i have that account transfered over to my name, to take that bill off her hands, then transfer a SERO 500 onto the account? plus gt rid of the other plans she had previously on the account? Does it work like that?

No you cant get rid of plans unless they are out of contract or you pay the early termination fee. You would be liable for the old lines on her account plus the sero plan(s). If you would have explained this to me I would have understood and worked it out easily.
