Anyone had success in getting out of this Verizon/Alltel merger?

I'm ready to switch to Sprint in order to get a better plan/pricing but I don't want to jump the gun and just cancel my Alltel contract if they eventually decide to let people cancel without ETFs. I've done some searching on other forums but haven't found much. Have you heard from an employee or someone that has been successful at cancelling without paying the contract fee? If not, I guess I'll be screwed... well at least Verizon isn't forcing us into their plans(yet).

I think we are screwed. Us Alltel customers in the midwest that are going to AT&T have it worse though.. the prices are way worse on AT&T than Verizon.

I have till January and I can bail on this whole Alltel to AT&T merger and go to Sprint.
