Changing Phones

Does anybody know if after the verizon takes over my area I will be able to change between phones freely? I have a Diamond and a BB that I currently change between about every other month sometimes more. After the merger does anybody know if i can do that considering the plan does change between BB and just data service. Or will they railroad me into a VZ plan as soon as I try to change phones back around.
