Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

I think you gotta have a Verizon plan unless you have a Smart Choice plan.

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

I was with Sprint for years. The years was adequate, especially for a rural area here in central Kansas. You have a lot more population in Hutch, especially being so close to Wichita. Up here I have Salina to the west and Junction to the east and a lot of cows and wheat around me.

I switched to Verizon because my car has an Onstar system in it and I was finding that I could use the phone in my car (Onstar uses VZW) when nothing else would work. You're area isn't as bad down there so YMMV but I am really happy that I switched. The area where I am is really different than most others so I don't expect others to have the same experience that I have with cell service but I've found that in travelling around Kansas that VZW does beat out everyone else. If I lived elsewhere I might very well go back to Sprint, but I don't live elsewhere and VZW provides the service I need where I need it.

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

Alright I've done some thinking about my situation and have made a decision. I wanna see who gets the Leo maybe by Feb. or so and who has the cheaper plan for it. If the rumors of T-Mobile getting more towers up in Kansas are true and the $50 unlimited everything plan then they will get my vote. Otherwise if Sprint gets it I will go to them. Barring Sprint getting it I will get Verizon's plan probably.

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

Just a comment, I spoke to a good friend that works at the alltel now verizon store and he said that if i upgrade to a verizon phone he can make it to where i can keep my alltel plan! I hope when that day comes it actually works but for now he has got my hopes up.

"He" doesnt have to do anything "special". We can put VZW phones on an Alltel plan without having to change, regardless of what the reps were telling everyone. Once the billing conversion is complete that is which it should be now. That is also assuming you have a smartchoice plan, since you on this site is a safe bet. If you went from a standard plan to a smartphone then yes you would probably have to go with a vzw as Alltel plans arent available anymore...but what you have is grandfathered in.

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

I was told we could get Verizon phones on our Alltel smartchoice plan, BUT they're not guaranteeing the phones to be fully functional. What's the point??

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

Oh I see. I could really care less about Verizon features so hopefully I can get a BB Tour activated on my Alltel acct. without a longer contract/Verizon contract.

Re: Stick With Verizon or Go To Sprint?

I have been a long-time sprint customer, and am pretty happy with them, BUT, verizon is releasing the sholes (motorola droid) which looks pretty cool.
The verizon plans are a bit on the high side, but if t-mobile is launching their everything plan for $50 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=89892 , and wal-mart is going to start becoming a provider, I am pretty hesitant to sign anything at the moment. This competition will surely force all the carriers to re-think their prices in our economy.
I am eligible for an upgrade with sprint nov 1st, and just about jumped on the hero bandwagon, but with everything happening in the cellular world, I think waiting a bit to see what happens is the best way to go....just my 2cents.
