How to get a little more out of your service provider!

I was clued in to this a while back and i thought i would share it here.

If you want something from your service provider and you think its a "long shot" that you are going to get it then here is what you do.

Call your respective customer service number and find the option that says you want to "Terminate Service" This will lead you to people who have more "options" when it comes to making you happy and keeping you onboard.

I first found out about this when i called and tried to get the 100 dollar instant rebate on my Mogul. I got the Mogul the day it came out with Sprint and 2 weeks later they started offering 100 dollar instant rebates.

The customer service rep basically said, "sorry about your luck"
So i went to the local sprint store where a highschool friend of mine worked and asked him. He clued me in to this little tid bit.

So i called the customer service and pressed the number for terminating service and that person credited my account with 100 dollars without even so much as a peep. Easy peezy.

I have used this to get 1 year data package for free.

i got 50% off unlimited text for a year

ive gotten two of my friends an additional 3 months on their data packages.

ive gotten my long distance enrolled into my normal plan before.

All you have to do is tell them you are ready to quit their service and move to another carrier unless they can make you happy.

This also works for AOL if you tell them you are ready to quit they will give you a discounted rate 9.00 a month i think instead of the normal rate. and thats for as long as you keep aol.. just tell them its too expensive for you to keep aol... with all the free alternatives out there. (not that i use aol i just know this works)

Funny side note... i asked one of the ladies for 3 months additional free data package and she said no, but she said she would give me 12 months at 60% off. I was like... wtf... ok thats better then what i wanted lol.

hope some of you can use this info to save some money out there cause we all know that phone services are overpriced anyway.

Happy Discounting.

Easy for some people, but I think those CS reps call my bluff everytime. Probably because I don't know what to say without sounding like a babbling fool!

But how do you ask for things without actually coming out and asking for them?

like most carriers will give you a free internet package... when it expires ask for another. say you didnt get a chance to use it. doesnt work as good as if they dont give you a data trial package. if you are not getting anything.. look what the other carriers are providing and throw it down..

BUT... miss CSM sprint is offering such and such at this price and i feel like thats a really good deal. Are YOU offering anything like this,

CSM: well no we are not...

Well i s there anything like this that i can get because i am really felling like sprint might be a better option for me on my budget at this time.

CSM: well here is what i can do....

GAME OVER

Re: How to get a little more out of your service provider!

This always depends on your representative. If you get a noobie, or someone on thin ice, they will bend for you. hardasses (And some manager, though most will bend) won't give a SH*T. This policy always goes for,

Also, remember to always claim you're switching to Sprint/Big Red and visa verca (You're a Smartphone user, they have to know you're smart enough to transfer to a place you'd actually be in competing with Verizon/Sprint)
