Alltel activation down?

has anyone else been having any troubles having *228 activate a phone? i usually dial it to be safe after flashing a rom to insure data etc work and for past few days keeps giving me a error saying can't program my phone. says same for my brothers touch as well. anyone else having this problem?

I have a feeling Verizon is making it harder and harder to stay on Alltel phones. I think they want us off our grandfathered (Alltel) plans and on to Verizon's $20 more per month plans.

Or, maybe it is just the tin foil hat I'm wearing....

I was going to buy a Touch Pro 2 if I could get it moved on to my current Alltel plan. They gave me such a hard time for a simple ESN/MEID swap. I think I'm going to be stuck w/ my Touch Pro for a while....

yeah i went in to verizon after almost a hour wait to be seen and they just like "oh call customer service" >.> and then i asked what phones my little brother could upgrade too hoping to at least get a diamond and all they had were crackberrys and dumb phones... that was the sign alltel is now dead.
