TELUS launching cellphone insurance September 10th called “Device Protection Plan”

Curious if anyone has any 'cons' from personal experiences to this type of insurance:

I guess the most obvious is that you never have to use it and then you've basically paid for a new phone by the time you decide to upgrade anyway.

I'm really curious to see if they'll offer this on something like existing Telus TP2 purchases, but where the insurance was not available at the time of new activation.

Of course I'm also curious to see which replacement cost tier the TP2 would belong to...I'm thinking the $150 bucket. In which case that's damn expensive -especially if you've been paying the insurance for 1-2 years as well.

I will not be getting that, the phone come with a one year warranty. After that if you get a swap unit, it comes with a three month warranty. Just keep bringing the swap back every 2.8 months after the one year warranty is up. I like to call it a The Life Time Warranty Plan. I've been doing it since I have my P4000. Eventually they just give you an offer you can't refuse
