(Question) Alltel+Verizon+Contract=?

If someone currently had a contract with Alltel, can they legally cancel their contract without Early Termination Fee because of the Verizon buy out? I need proof that this can take place, like a link to the FCC or some governing body.

I know that legally when contract terms change, the signee has the option of canceling the contract.

example: You sign a one year lease with a landlord and the landlord changes the cost of rent, you have the option to move without penalty.

Recently Dish Network increased their fees for plans and sent me a letter informing me of my rights to cancel the contract within 90 days if I didn't cancel, they would consider that as a new agreement to the new fees.

Can anyone help clarify this for me
