Question Upgrade swap question

I have a scenario to run by any of the Sprint guys or users who may have experienced the same.

I have a family share plan everything plan... both lines are eligible for upgrade. My other son has his own account which is not yet eligible for upgrade. Could I order an upgrade on one of my lines (thus extending contract and all that) and when it arrives not activate the phone, give it to my son who will activate it on his own line or is the esn on the new phone tied to my account?
This is legit... not a money making scheme just trying to get my son a phone since his is trashed. I have no problems with renewing my contract because I'd do that anyway when I upgrade my part of the plan.

Re: Upgrade swap question

No problem at all, you can order a phone on your account and then give it to your son.
The only thing is that sometimes the phone is tied to your account. So in that case just call sprint and tell thim you want to release the esn from your account, and that should take care of it

Re: Upgrade swap question

I think the ESN has to stay under the original account for 30 days. I'm pretty sure that's what they told me a while back. It could have changed but I would definitely ask.

I have heard this as well...multiple times. To be safe, I would activate it for at least a few days on the account it is supposed to go to...then swap it to another line.
