Re: Getting Raped by Verizon.

I wasn't trying to be a Sprint fanboy or telling you to convert to them, OP. Just from my experiences when i had Verizon, they are very, very stubborn. Remember the 1 cent versus .01 cents fiasco? Dealing with the question at hand, what exactly have you tried so far in terms of messing with the phone itself, not the customer disservice reps? I'm really not seeing why verizon claims to be using a different version of CDMA, in addition to the fact that they now own the company that uses the "other" CDMA. I'm sure, as the good geeks before me have said, theres something you can do to reclaim at least SOME of your phone's functionality.

before this thread is sidetracked again, i'll just say none of these cell phone companies gives a hoot about any of us. as long as we pay our bill and never complain, we're good customers. i just think it's crazy that a company buys another company and then deny the products from the company they just bought.

switch devices
deactivate the alltel device for some crappy vzw device and switch it back on. THat I have done and the esn was luckily added to the vzw dmd. What that would do essentially (and hopefully) transfer all info to your info to the vzw network while the system will say okay, this is a vzw device. It worked once for me...

But there is also the option of using bad illegal things forbidden to be discussed on ppcgeeks as another option. Insofar though, you don't have many options and I am seriously sorry because I've been there. But you do have SOME...just not many available...

Also what happened to another member is that they didn't activate vzw equipment for months and they were going to be charged for not activating equipment. So be very careful with that...

Hmm... Well what they are doing is illegal too. Denying service then forcing someone in to a cheaper device. Also it's not that I don't want the convert. I'm excited about, verizon does have a good network. I don't want to be raped in the *** because of it though. My phone picks up the phone signal... But the data has been locked out by them, although they claim its because of a different version of CDMA. I'm using a verizon prl... The phone is activated under a verizon network, and is programmed to verizon. I can *228 it just fine, and I have modified the settings manually. Nothing works

They think they do,
but really, unless you've worked as one,
you don't really know how to get what you want 100%.

I work in a call center. I know what it's like.

Different version my ***. I bet you any amount of money, they put my ESN on a list of "to replace" phones... Where now, I can't use data and texting.

I've tried everything with the phone. I don't know what else to do. anyone know how to uhm... view my esn? PM me if you know.

Side note, Texting is working sometimes now. It's on and off. Data is not working at all. Very annoying, and no it has nothign to do with where i am. I also shipped their box back to them and wrote a polite letter that said "You are worse than those scammers who want me to send my laptop to them in Nigeria, and they will send me a cashier's check. I'm not going to be scammed out of what I have."

Re: Getting Raped by Verizon.

sounds like vzw isn't authenticating the phone whatsoever
even in normal voice/sms the phone won't authenticate. This primarily occurs with converted phones, cloned esns too
data is a huge test to determine evdo authentication. To be frank sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. On my alltel tpro I did make it like it was a vzw device and that helped the process along...there are a few more steps needed but again not allowed to be discussed
actually...yeah pm me

This is quite an interesting thread! I'm amazed it hasn't gone up in flames!

Since everyone here talks about screwing instead of getting screwed, why not try this strategy.

Verizon sounds like they're clearly not delivering on the contract you made with Alltel. If the phone you bought from Alltel can't deliver on the verizon network, they should either give you a phone of comparable quality or they should clearly let you out of your end of the contract since they are the ones that have broken the contract. In any case this should occur without you returning your old phone. If they don't agree, I would absolutely activate your old phone on a different network and refuse to give them another dime. They really have no recourse since they broke the contract! If you're on autopay, dispute the payment and contact your credit card company! Do not give verizon another penny! Let them hang in the breeze like they're letting you hang!

but they say that their TP is equivalent to alltel TP.
Which their gimped one is sooooo not equivalent.
Also, If they want to give me their vzw TP, I want reinbursement for the percentage of the phone they took out, the amount of $ I spend on accessories that will not work with the vzw TP. Stuff like that.
It'll end up costing them more if they don't accept my alltel phone.
Ugh, this talk just keeps pissing me off more and more.
gotta stop now before I go on another rant. lol.

Dude we actually don't have an escalation queue... We do the old fashion way... Call the person running the floor controling breaks etc, and they send a supervisor with a Y cord and a headset and we listen in and they finish the call. Haha. The only problem is most of the complaints are about employees because we actually a public service call center, where we give leasing information about apartments to those who call us.

Anywho.

Verizon doesn't seem to understand. They said their device is "Comparable."

They also said that it is the most expensive and highest phone they have and they can not give me anything else. O.o

Well that's just way too old fashioned. lol.
We had about a good ten managers people could go up to.
but only the first four were used.
and most didn't go past the first manager as they we happy with what they got and/or didn't know there were higher levels to be reached and each time they go up a level the $/products/goods for free that they got would be anywhere from 3-5times the amount the last level had.

If Verizon screws me and wants me to go to their plan then I'm going to leave but I'm gonna try to wait around and see what happens.
