Pre vs. iphone, sprint vs. at&t

I think my ipod touch 2g is very similar to the iphone 3g - so this is semi-fair comparison.

In all fairness, I *like* the ipod touch. It's my grab device in the mornings to check my emails/ browse the web/etc using wifi. The larger screen really makes a difference here. I do like to multi-task though, which is something the iphone obviously can't really do - but at least the apps load fast, and most games/etc save your place when you exit.

The iphone 3gs looks like a great phone.. But I'll never get one. Why? AT&T.

nation's fastest 3g network? Yeah, right. Have you ever tried calling someone on an AT&T iphone? Half the time it goes straight to voicemail. And I can't remember the last time my sprint phone dropped a call. I travel to client sites all the time, and 7 times out of 10 my peers don't have reception on at&t indoors but I do on sprint. I also have a sprint broadband card.. same story.. I had to set my laptop up as an adhoc wifi network using my sprint broadband two weeks back in chicago because my coworkers on that project had at&t broadband cards.. and couldn't get a decent signal. (client site, so we couldn't use their network)

I think sprint's the most under-rated provider out there, and they happen to be among the cheapest.. If sprint had the iphone, I might actually switch (over the pre or touch pro / touch pro2..) - heck, I've already paid for half of the decent apps on my ipod touch 2g.. - but AT&T will never get me as a customer. Not until they significantly change their network and pricing anyways.

Re: Pre vs. iphone, sprint vs. at&t

I agree 100%.

I have a 16 gig ipod touch. I use it daily tethered to my TouchPro with WMWifirouter.

Half the place I work has iphones as the owner switched out our corporate account from Verizon (which worked super) to ATT (which does not) all because his Wife just just had to have an iphone.

I kept my Sorint TP that runs on Verizon unchanged as I already knew how bad ATT was. Now half of our corporate calls get cutoff, go unanswered etc etc all because ATT sucks.......

Too bad their texting isn't more reliable.

I might never have switched to verizon if I could send/receive a text reliably on sprint. Texts that arrive 8 hours late are totally unacceptable to me however & that happened to me daily for almost two years with sprint.

Hundreds of posts here confirm there are plenty of other people having the exact same problems with sprint.

Re: Pre vs. iphone, sprint vs. at&t

I have not had the texting issue in over a year when Sprint upgraded parts of their network. I too think Sprint is under rated.

I have had a few texts which took forever to go through (but all in all it's usually instant..)

That seems to be common around border towns in Texas. Not sure about El Paso though.
