Sprint Says No to Activate with no Data Plan - Page 2

Nah weedahoe, my friend bought his 68 brand new with new 2 year prcing and didn't activate with a plan. With the Verizon though, all PDA phones made/released after 11/08 require a plan. The 67/68/69 don't. On Sprint I don't think any do.

new data devices (blackberry, palm, HTC (winmo)) must have a data plan. if its customer owned, you should be good. only exception may be BBs

I had mine with VZW and they told me the same thing but it can be dont without. When I questioned why, they told me because of the data usage it uses and there is no way to stop it. So with them on the phone I went to me connection settings for #777 and told them all I had to do was remove the UID or Pass to stop the authenication process and they still tried to argue with me data would be charged. Keep in mind these are the same idiots who wanted to argue with me that when using WiFi it still goes through thier towers and data is charged! Some of them DO NOT need to work in Tech Supp.

Bottom line, it can be done, call and talk to someone else or someone higher and more knowledgable.

Yea, they tried to argue me the same thing (although I use my data plan, so didn't matter), but before I went unlimited data and told them I'd use mostly wifi. Sad part was I couldn't tell if they were dead serious and believed that or thought I was that stupid to belive that...
