Verizon/Alltel Merger upgrade question

Good Morning Everyone,

I've been a Titan owner for about the last year, and have been very satisfied, but as we all know a year of satisfaction just means it's time to move on to the latest and the greatest.

I am an Alltel customer in Wisconsin and I dont know if I should wait until Verizon is officially available and get a phone like the Omnia, or if I should renew my contract now with Alltel and get the Touch Pro. I dont mind waiting a few months if there are new Verizon phones on the horizon.

If anyone has any advice including what it's like dealing with Verizon I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Re: Verizon/Alltel Merger upgrade question

Woah... This is a very good question as I am DOING EXACTLY the same thing. I had to check and make sure that I didn't drink too much last night and type that out. Exact same amount of time, same phone as I own now, same phone I want to get. I'm actually looking at a Omnia now that is on verizon. Just wanna make sure I can get it to work on Alltel first..

All verizon phones suck. Go out and renew your alltell contract and buy the pro with alltell before it is too late.

Re: Verizon/Alltel Merger upgrade question

I wouldn't recommend dealing with Verizon at all since they were my first carrier. I loved the coverage, but everything else was another story. Its been over 4 years since I left them and I never looked back after they overcharged me for tethering before my final billing cycle, but if it wasn't for my fiancee (god rest her soul) who was a head tech for Verizon over 6 years ago at that time, I would've joined Alltel at that time in Florida.

OK well, what if i found a Samsung Omnia, and I want to use it on my alltel service. Is that possible. Because I've found a nice Omnia at a nice deal...

Re: Verizon/Alltel Merger upgrade question

Well, I decided to upgrade to the Touch Pro, and I am not too happy with the decision. I think i'm going to bring it back and go back to my mogul. I can definitly see some potential, but I think I'll just wait it out and see if a better device comes out soon.

To me the TP just seems like its "sloppy". They keyboard doesnt stay in tight, the bottom buttons creek when you press them, and the software seems to have some major lags. All and all I wasnt really impressed. I honestly was more happy with my Mogul running DCD's latest rom.
