They're refarming the network which is cheaper than paying to have the iPhone or any other GSM phone subsidized. Not only the refarm allows for use of any GSM phone but it also expands coverage and increases capacity which is already beyond that of sprint. T-mobile isn't the only carrier without the iPhone USCC rejected it. Probably because they know that they'd lose money if they offered it subsidized.

so when tmobile gets a branded iphone in a few months, i assume you will take all this back and talk about how smart tmobile was to get one?
