metropcs internet speed & gsm androids

For Miami & NY what are typical metropcs download speeds?

What are some of the best gsm android phones out now?

I have a TP I might use for metropcs since I'm going back to the states for a couple months.

On the other hand if I can decide on a gsm android, I might just buy that and put it on whatever carrier can support it with the best wireless internet speed since a GSM phone makes switching carriers overseas more convenient.
