Shear boredom project

Alright, I am a web developer, and I have decided to embark on a quest to make getting one's MSL/ SPC number a whole lot easier. I'm creating a site that will enable the caculation of the MSL simply and easily without any programs or desktop applications that cost money, this will be an absolutely free service, however, I have hit a snag. I can't find any algorithm for the calculation of MSL numbers. I know it's done with the ESN number of a phone, but as to how the number is calculated and such I don't know.

Here's why I want to do this for free, I love math and "encryption", and I have been trying to work it out how the number is calculated, and seeing if I can script a page to accept ESN numbers, and spit out the MSL. I am posting here to see if anyone has heard of Sprint's algorithm, because they seem to be the input ESN, spit out MSL number queens .

Any help is much appreciated, and I will give credit to whom it's due when I have the project completed. Thanks for reading.

for some reason I think one of the variables is the cpuid or radio id. that's why all the apps run on the phone or through usb.
good concept but I think if it's too easy then congressmen could do it and all hell will break loose.

Yea, you did just a little... *facepalm* on the ESN entry.

Regardless of the whole website idea, within CDMA Workshop they have a simple calculator program the doesn't require the phone to be connected or even in the same room as the PC. Realistically all that I am interested in is the algorithm, I don't care about the site, I just want to know how it's done, how it's caculated, and so forth.

Yes curiousity killed the cat, and I'm just curious... Someone has to know what this algorithm is, seeing as someone wrote CDMA Workshop, and someone else wrote the old GetSPC program.
