Epic and EVO are the 2 best android phones for now. If you are waiting for something better than the EVO and Epic it could be awhile. If you are looking for a moment upgrade the rumored HTC Speedy might be something you might be interested in. |

Re: Upcoming Android phones for Sprint

Looks like HTC Speedy will be coming to Sprint and it will be an Android 2.2 Froyo device with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Being called the HTC Evo 4G's younger brother by the cited anonymous source, it will sport a 3.5 inch HVGA resolution screen - that is 320 × 480 pixels, powered by an 800 MHz processor, 386 MB RAM and a 5MP camera with flash. There will be four capacitive buttons on the front of the device for Home, Menu, Back and Search and another rumor we can get anxious about: some sort of new version of HTC Sense with some new features and innovations which will differentiate the newer Froyo devices from the already existing ones. Actually a lil worse than the moment since it has a 899 mhz processor |

Yeah, the Speedy doesnt sound to appealing to me either. I wish they would offer a 3G only version of the EVO or Epic and not have to pay the extra 10 per month.

I'm not crazy about the moment keyboard and I've had it for a year but I've gotten used to it. Guess that would be true about the Epic as well, I'd get use to it. Tried going to Best buy yesterday to pick it up but they were sold out!? |

Re: Upcoming Android phones for Sprint
I actually like the Evo with Swype installed. I recently switched my parents over to Sprints EPRP from Verizon, and they ended up getting an Evo and an Epic. So, I have have been lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time on each setting them up for my parents.
I installed Swype on the EVO and loved it. The Epic did seem a tad faster though, but not by much. |

I realize that no phone is perfect and there will always be something amiss but it's experiencing similar GPS issues as the Moment, capped upload speeds (with the fix coming but when?), and now the keyboard. Oh and don't forget the extra $10 for 4G when I don't even get 4G where I live.. I've been burned by HTC so I'm weary of going back. |

Re: Upcoming Android phones for Sprint
Well, the Epic is a pretty solid phone. It runs great stock. I havent had much time with the GPS, but it locked on pretty quickly once you enable the "aGPS" settings. We dont have 4G here so I cant comment on the capped upload speeds.
I'm sure you will be happy with the Epic for a long time. |

I've been reading up on the GPS issue over at xda-developers. The initial lock is pretty fast but the phone seems to keep that data and it eventually expires and leads to flaky signals later on. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone which doesn't seem like a big deal but can be a pain in the butt. Here is the link for anyone interested in reading: GPS issues still persist in Epic 4G - xda-developers I think the cap is only for 3G. People on 4G didn't see the 150 upload cap.
