Re: Sprint considering a move to tiered data plans

there is no 5gb cap on the phones data plan. unlimited is in fact unlimited.
paid tethering and data cards have a 5gb cap on 3g data.

hard to trust a source that has such a basic fact wrong.

The most I ever use was 8gb.... I can cut that down to 4gb to stop the extra charges.... I love sprint....

I dont see how one goes over 15. Do people cancel their internet once they get an EVO or something?

You must not be too savvy on data usage. It's quite easy to exceed 15GB per month. There are a lot of people who use their phones data plans as primary internet ... me being one of them. Not everyone is in a luxurious position to be able to get standard home internet service (i.e. FiOS, Comcast, Cox, etc.). On my old TP2, I averaged 11-12GB per month and that was with VERY MINDFUL monitoring of my data usage. All you need to do is look at a few YouTube videos and download a few songs and a movie or two plus stream a few tv shows online, and before you know it, you've exceeded 10gigs a month. A lot of these people posting outrageous number, of course, are idiots who are taking advantage and doing things like downloading dozens upon dozens of movies, tv shows, entire cds, torrents, and whatever else. Those few a**holes are going to screw things over for everyone else. Before the EVO even came out, I knew this was going to happen... I was just wondering how soon.

Amen on that one lafester....my first thought upon reading the thread title I was like, Oh here we go!

It is probably inevitable, but not without a fight.

A generous cap would be warranted. And then they should penalize with hefty fees. I mean its a phone for god sakes.

I can totally see that. Of course I abuse my cable line with all my movie, discographies, game isos etc but i would never do that with a phone. The usage you described is very reasonable. Its all the other jacka$$es.

hmmmmm. reading it again they dance around the 5gb cap... not sure why they even bring it up?

sprint is big on offering unlimited services that the others don't.
i imagine they will just stick with the 4g tax for awhile as most new phones are going to need it anyway.
