mine got waved as well.......didnt even have to ask him about it...he was like im going to wave monthly fee, activation fee and the price for unit.....totally free great........

The new one has no fees, it'd meant to be free. It was in sprint's PR release

Re: How to get Airave2 now with 3g

received my airave access point last week. hooked it up according to directions and my network slowed to a crawl. looks like the AP cant pass lots of data quickly and efficiently. after making the AP part of the network instead of the main network switching decvice it fixed the network slowdown. signal strength of unit is adjustable (click update airave on sprint account page) and 3g works well (it better it is basically glorified wifi).

the only issue i have left is poor hand offs from airave to celltower. seems my evo wont let go when connected to airave, so the call drops as i pull away from my house.

best advice on getting one of these is to call customer care (aka retentions) and ask nicely if you can get the airave access point as a replacement for your existing airave. it worked for me and should for you. just remember to be polite and dont act like a douche bag

I was hoping it fixed that issue where you switch from home to outside

Re: How to get Airave2 now with 3g

did you put the Airvana in FRONT of the router? if so thats why is slowed..

the airvana has Sprints future VOIP service inside and it must control QoS so that it gets sufficient bandwidth to handle VOIP calls.

if your router has QoS built in then you can set up your router to allow the airvana to have primary access.

in the meantime, you can put the airvana behind the router on an unused port and be just fine. thats what i did and thats how i had the first gen airave...

yep still wont hand off the call and that is the only negative if your not on a call when you leave then no biggie...

Does anyone know if the wires and gps unit are the same? Can I just keep the old wires and send back the new wires with the old box to keep the hookup simple? I hate having to go under the desk to fish wires.

Aman1127, you may not even need the GPS antenna. Try and see if you get lock without it.... Mine's fine without the antenna.

It is like a mini cell tower in your house that hooks up to your home internet for those that have bad reception in their home. Will give you perfect signal!

The gps is necessary because of fcc regulations. They need to locate you if there is an emergency. Gps is necessary to locate towers and broadband boosts signal
