AT+T pre paid network.....
Hey all,
Let's just say, Verizon is not cutting it for coverage in my home and people's homes I go to (family mostly), getting no service and dropped calls. I got a VZW network extender and if I sit in the same room with the device, it's fine but, if I walk out, it locks onto a tower and my call will get dropped (POS in my eyes). I can make a call in my home and 95% of the time I will get a call but, walking around my home on the phone about 60% of the time will lead to a dropped call. I checked coverage and about 1/4 of a mile from my home, Vzw, sprint has NO coverage at all and it's poor signal at that. At&T "claims" they have very good coverage here and the places where I go, for the most part. SO, I was thinking about getting a AT&T go phone (pre-paid) and living with it for a little while just to test coverage where I go. I don't want to sign any contracts till I know for sure. When I went into a store (was walking by, stopped in, not the reason for the visit, I talked to a rep, he said the "Pre-Paid" network is different from their standard network, I think it's BS from what I have seen. So, who is right ? Is the Pre-paid AT&T network, the same as the regular At&T network ?

That rep was blowing smoke out of his house. There's no difference in the post-paid and the pre-paid network. The only difference is the type of account. The go phone still uses an at&t sim.
You shouldve asked that rep the go phone uses what network as opposed to at&t. That rep probably just wanted to talk you out of their pre-paid plans and into the regular plan. After all they make the money by signing you up for a contract. Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab

Re: AT+T pre paid network.....
The store reps are always the worse since most work on commission to sell phones.

Re: AT+T pre paid network.....
although its the same service and all, main difference comes while roaming. when you got to at&t coverage map at first instance it looks as if they have coverage everywhere but when you zoom in, the color changes to indicate roaming area. Which i am pretty sure post paid service covers but not abt prepaid.
anyways even for post paid service they should offer 15/ 30 days trial. get a temp # test the service and if everything works out then make the switch. |

Re: AT+T pre paid network.....
yea. the verizon tp2 can do that, but you have to call verizon first and tell them you're going to travel overseas and that you need the sim unlock code and they'll give it to you. then you type it into your phone and you'll be ready for the at&t sim card.
