Unauthorized Plan Change?

Guys, I am a bit frustrated and I am looking for a helping hand/tips on what to do next.

I called in to Sprint several days ago looking at upgrading my phone from the HTC Touch Pro 2 to the Sprint EVO 4G. I wasn't eligible to upgrade for a couple of months, but the lady said since I have been a customer since 2001 she could push it through, but it would take several days for it to show up on the sprintrebates.com site.

I called back in later to check the status and my eligibility had been reset, but come to find out they switched my $20 3000 Minute Free and Clear plan to a $69.99 450 minute plan without my authorization.

The Account Manager in Retention said there is nothing Sprint can do.

Someone literally changed my plan and Sprint is giving me the middle finger.

What can be done?

Re: Unauthorized Plan Change?

Send back the EVO and keep your TP2, you are not going to be able to use that 20.00 plan with the EVO. Good luck.

I don't have an EVO. I haven't done any type of phone change. They literally just changed my plan.

Re: Unauthorized Plan Change?

Call them back and make them fix it, if you did not upgrade have them fix it. its going to take lots and lots of demanding and I would ask to speak with retentions first thing.

Re: Unauthorized Plan Change?

I have to say that they have been trying to do exactly this to me the last two months. I think it is about time for the FCC to hear about this. They have, however, backed down when I protested. I am on a cheapo $15/month dataplan and want to stay there as a 6 year customer. I think the reason I got the change is that I let my contract lapse and am paying month to month at my old rates, so i can leave at any time.

Re: Unauthorized Plan Change?

Guys, this is so frustrating. I just got off the phone with another Retention Manager and he said there is nothing he can do and he apologizes for the inconvenience. He said its out of his hands.

Does anybody have a direct sprint number or any clue on what to do? i have called them 5 times already.

Try calling them up and demand to speak to their manager..if they refuse to give you your plan back..tell them you will file a claim with the FCC and the Attorney General as this is a violation...make sure to ask for their name and the call id number.

Re: Unauthorized Plan Change?

bare minimum they should be able to tack on some credits for at least a year or two, but hopefully the "system" will still take that old plan code. the rep should have verified the plan change.

this is again a classic example of why forced subsidies and carrier specific phones are bad. the consumer loses choices.
but I gotta admit that I just let go of my old f&f4f, but since I was adding 2 lines including a blackberry, I still saved $. I'm guessing unless you had some sweet perks* built up you were going to pay close to that anyway by the time you add on txt, data, and 4g.

*perks= added extra's not part of the contract.
