Sprint - Insurance Scam

I have a Touch Pro that I bought after seeing a friend have it. Because there was so much problems with it, that during the 30 days that I had shipped back 3 of them. That should have been a clue for things to come. When I called in after I got the last phone to acctivate the insurance, they etell me that my 30 days started with the first phone and I could not get the insurance, however that they often do free open enrollment for any/all phones.

Well.. in March, 2010 I sign up for the insurance and I get my papers in the mail - thanking me for signing up. I pay the bill, including the $7 extra per month.

This week I call in, and I'm told that I don't have any insurance, and they cannot find it on my account. Needless to say I go back pull my paperwork and bills to find that they ahve charged me the $7 per month. I call them back, tell them that they are wrong fax my papers to them.

I go to pay the bill and what do I see, a credit of $28 to my account where they reimbursed me for the insurance payments!

Now I'm stuck with a broke phone, and no insurance and my only recourse to buy a new phone now or wait until December when I have the maximum rebates!

I call them back, and they tell me that I cna wait for them to do the open enrollment again but that it won't be soon because they already did in March.

Re: Sprint - Insurance Scam

If you are doing insurance it sounds like you were damaging the phones some how, otherwise it would have fallen in the 1yr warranty. It sounds like Assurion has flagged you, a friend of mine was also flagged by assurion after getting 3 phones replaced due to her dropping them within a 2 month period.

Re: Sprint - Insurance Scam

or...if you have a back up phone, swap it out by activating the back up phone on line. and when activation is complete, turn around and add the TEP. and then activate your tp again the following online again. but if i remember correctly, there is a 14 day waiting period when it comes to claiming when you've just added the TEP. on your account.
