Sprint will not sell me the EVO even though im not on a contract!

Ok so here's the deal. I purchased a Touch PRO at full retail price. The stores gave me 3 completely different ones and said they "fixed" 2 of them...still had problems with all of them.

So i am out of contract, go up to Sprint store and basically tell them if they can't fix my phone this time im going to get an iphone...that i've had enough of the BS they kept putting me through.

The lady all of a sudden goes "OHHH well, we have a new version of that phone out, so let's try that one and see if it works any better"

So hence i have the Touch PRO 2. So i hear the EVO is coming out and im done with windows mobile, go online and to my suprise...oh wow they renewed my @#$@(# contract without even telling me!

The exchange happened at the store but i was on the phone with Sprint so everything had to have been recorded. The lady never ONCE told me my contract would be renewed. So after bitching and complaining they finally put my contract end date back to where it should have been...back in 2009.

So i go into Radio Shack today to see if i can preorder the EVO....nope. Call sprint and the guy on the phone is a COMPLETE **** to me, basically telling me i can't have anything for free and im lucky he doesn't renew my contract for me getting the TP2.

So now im pissed as @(#% at Sprint. I've been a customer for 4+ years and never had this kind of an issue.

They are telling me i can't "upgrade" but yet im not under contract, so couldn't i just cancel my account and open up a new one? That's so stupid i would have to go through all this BS.

Anyways, so i know Verizon is looking at coming out with something to "top" the "4G" that sprint is advertising which is supposed to be a LOT faster.

What do you guys think? Should i just give up on sprint and go with verizon or the iphone? I was perfectly fine with paying the $200 for the evo but that rep was a complete *******

I use my phone a lot for Pandora, GPS, Music and tethering, so if verizon should have a faster network than sprint soon, i might want to go with them.

sounds like your account has some bad notes on it. i don't really know what to tell you; you could leave sprint and go elsewhere, or don't and deal with it. what kind of gets me is how ready to jump ship you are over a phone that you haven't used yet and might not like.

I don't see how it would, im ready to jump ship because i've been with windows mobile for 3 generations and i guess im just tired of it.

Started with the Mogul, Touch Pro, and now Touch Pro 2.

It's not something i "just" started with, i've had HTC and windows mobile for the past 4 years.

what i'm saying is at least try android first. reading your initial post indicates that if sprint doesn't sell you an evo, you're going to verizon or the iphone. if you're sick of winmo, just say that lol, why blame it on sprint?

IMO Sounds like you are upset you can't get something for nothing.
Cancel your account and sell your TP2 if you don't like it.
Then go with Verizon or another carrier but I bet you're gonna pay more per month.

I have it, i have an eris for Verizon that is my business cell. I blame it on Sprint because they are being difficult about something so stupid.

you must be 12, very childish. And i can get one but i have to cancel my account or add a line to do it, which seems stupid.

All i was asking is what people think i should do, comparing the EVO to all the other phones, or between Verizon's network and Sprints.

And no if Sprint doesn't sell me the EVO that doesn't specifically mean im going to get an iphone or go to verizon/tmobile, that's just an option and i was asking everyones opinion.

i would let the evo come out and see if it has issues or maybe play with one first, seems like theres issues floating around and its early. dust under screen was a big issue on my hero and seems evo may have same deal. i would also talk to more than one sprint rep and maybe you will have better luck with them.

I don't want something for nothing, i am willing to pay for the EVO. I paid full price for that POS they call the regular touch pro so yeah i was mad when i went back to the store. I had numerous problems with that phone almost weekly, once i got the TP2 i haven't had NEARLY as many issues.
