New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

I am a long time Cricket customer and going to make the move to Sprint. Are there some things I should know about them?

I terther my TP2 with cricket...does Sprint allow this? I seen Sprint is getting the new HTC EVO that allow up to 8 mobile devices connected to it. So little confused about it.

How is customer service and billing? Tell me everything...

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

Well Sprint "does" allow us to use our phones to tether with and doesn't really bother us about it unless you don't have an unlimited data plan for your phone. So no extra charges there. Just search "tethering" with your phone and you'll come across a lot more in depth detail on how to do it with Sprint.

On the Evo it's quite different, it allows up to 8 devices to be tethered via wi fi. This will be an extra charge from $10-$20.. No one knows yet in less the information just came out. Probably won't be to long after it is released that someone(s) might root the device and allow us to tether for free!

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

Thanks for the input. Years ago I know Sprint was known to have bad customer service but I see alot of members on here with Sprint. Right now I'm getting the free phone(Palm Pixi) until I sell my Verizon TP2(on cricket) to get a better phone for Sprint.

I was concerned about tethering with the Pixi because from what I see on the TP2 rom have the save tethering cooked in the rom. I don't think Pixi have apps like that. But if Sprint doesn't mind tethering now that is great.

Tethering with the Pixi might be a different deal. but idk because I never had to miss with one. Definitely should should search the forums though or if anyone else knows could post about this.

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

Like stated, Sprint doesn't really "allow" tethering w/out a plan for it, it's just that they don't check. On the TP2, you don't have to have tethering cooked in, you can download a few cabs that will enable it. For the Pixi, I'm sure there are easy ways to enable it, you'll just have to check the forums.

As for the EVO, nobody is really sure how all that will work out, as Sprint has not released the 4G plan details/pricing.

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

Hi I am on the Evo waiting list.Just talked to the store salesperson. It will be $29.00 extra a month for the Evo wifi not $10.00-$20.00.I will not pay that.I will use a third party hack if I can.

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

The EVO is $10 extra per month, the $29 is for the mobile hotspot feature. Once the phone is rooted you will likely be able to tether for free just as you can with every other Android device.

Best carrier ever!

Re: New to Sprint...What do I need to know?

Just because sprint is going to charge $30 bucks for tethering doesn't mean everyone has to get so pissy about it.

Seriously think about it, how much would a air card and service plan charge you? and thats for only one device!!

So if you think about it, the Evo is a 2 in one, an air card with wi fi and a smartphone. So yeah Sprint is going to charge you a lil extra for their "air card service" otherwise how would they make money? They are already giving the phone away at $200 w/ contract and off at $ 450. plus its 4g with up to 8 devices connected through wifi!

If you don't like it, go buy an air card and another data plan and tell me how much your saving added with your cell phone bill.

Otherwise pay it and shut up or just wait till they get it rooted and hopefully everyone can get it for free
