Seeking Advice: Carrier Switch? Hardware???

Due to a recent change in martial status, I have to break my phone and number off of the sprint contract which is under her name.

I currently have a TP2 and have been with sprint almost 10 years. Not too many complaints, it has served me well. I have the simply everything plan.

When I break my phone off, I'll have the opportunity to stay with sprint, or choose another carrier such as T-Mobile or AT&T. I am quite interested in both the HD2 from t-mobile and the Evo 4G comming to sprint... but am not a big fan of Android. I love my WM phone and developing apps is much easier for me, am more familar with the OS, API, and tools... have not yet tried to do anything developmental wise with android.

So, I'd like to her opinions both on the networks/carriers in regards to reliability, stability, call drops, etc. I'd also like opinions as to if the EVO 4G is that MUCH better than the specs on the HD2, have not been able to find a side by side spec comparison yet.

One other factor, I tether my phone quite often... and drives me nuts that with sprint I can't have a call come in and keep my data connection... but I understand that the 4G network will have this capability.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

You don't know how easy or hard it would be to develop app for Android because you haven't looked into do in it or have you?

If I were you, I'd read over at the Android section to see how many people USED to LOVE WM, switched to Android and said see ya to WM. Calkulin is a chef that moved to Android and is apparently liking it a lot. If I were you I'd stay with Sprint if you find the thread I started here in the carriers section "I'm glade I stuck with Sprint" you'll know why I say stay with them

Tethering, it's possible to do that with an Android based phone.
As far as EVO 4G being able to use data and accept incoming calls, I don't think it's been officially announced that this phone will do that, in theory if you have 3G and 4G available to you in the area you're in, the data will use the 4G stream while voice will use the 3G stream

As for me, I'm glad I'm with Sprint, I don't think nobody can touch their value, I've shopped around and they have the best pricing for plans and how could you beat Any Mobile Any Time?? I have been with Sprint for 8 years now and am glad I didn't jump when everyone else in town had 3G except for Sprint!

Hope this helps

No, I have not looked into developing for Android nor tried so I have no idea. I've been able to play with some android phones from time to time, but no long term experiences.

My ex's billing cycle ended with sprint today, so I established my own account and transfered my phone and my daughters over to it.

I have been with sprint for 10 years with few complaints. I can stick it out with my TP2 until the EVO 4G comes this summer... then I'll see what it takes to develop android apps...

Thanks for the comment and advice, and yes I did read your thread on "glad you stuck with sprint"
