Sprint ESN swap- I have to chat with a rep? wha...?

Why would I all of a sudden have to chat with a rep to do an ESN swap? I've always been able to do them online alone before, now it always says the system couldn't find the ESN & to chat with a rep or call. This happens with multiple phones. I tried to swap my Diamond onto my dad's line the other night(finally got him geekified, yay!) & got this error, and I wanted to use my Lotus for a while the other day, and got denied then too. What the crap?

which number are you putting in? IMEI or MEID? have you tried both? I don't know why it makes a difference, but I had one of my TP1 replacements that I couldn't get to take with one number but the other worked perfect.

I am a frequent swapper myself, I've swapped 4 times in one day a couple times. Now you have me worried! I've never had any issues like what you're saying. Maybe it's a new policy? Hopefully some people who ESN swap frequently will post and say they had no issues today. I don't have my other phone on me today or I would be glad to try it.

I think my mom has something to do with it. I'm on her family plan & she always thinks I'm gonna do something nefarious to her account, so maybe she called in & had them put some kind of extra security on it or something. Damn, now I gotta impersonate her again.

Chances are good it's a glitch.

Kind of like how Sprint's chat option is constantly disappearing from most all pages. I'm usually resourceful enough to track it down though...even when it's clearly hidden.

It all started when I tried to swap over my Lotus a few days ago. I got the ESN not recognized message, and the same thing happened when I tried to swap the diamond to my dad's line. There is no way the Lotus's ESN is bad, it's brand new straight from sprint sales(My mom cashed in her upgrade but didn't like the Lotus, so it got passed on to me). I wonder if my account got flagged for "suspicious activity" or something. I may just bite the bullet & chat tonight, this is irking me.

sometimes if you do it like really late at nite it forces you for some reason other times I think it could just their system is acting up

It could just be a quirk with the phone. I just had trouble activating a BlackBerry Tour on my line. Tried multiple times. Even did a chat and nothing.

You're better off calling in to Tech. Support, as if there is a phone issue, they will make you do that anyways.
