Is there any sort of hack to speed up the storage card like there was for the touch pro

Not that I know of, and I don't see how it would help TBH. The slowness of Android is NOT related to the speed of the card. Heck, the higher class cards (class 6+) are actually worse for running Android, despite them being faster. They're just not designed to run an OS off of basically.
