Does the future hold BT for andriod on TP2?

I have been running android off and on since it was first released. I appreciate all the hard work everyone has put into it. I am just wondering what the future holds for the last few bits for this project to be 100%. Back when sound was not working everyone asked about it and always got scolded it will be done when its done. however we could always keep an eye on the progress as so much was being done to make it work. However i never hear anything about bluetooth. An answer of it will be done when it is done is fine for me. Just wondering if there are people working on it. Android can never be a full time OS for me until BT is functional so hence my heightened curiosity. If there is a place i am not aware of that i can keep track of what people are working on i would be glad to check there just i am not really aware of it.

Well that's obviously the answer dude.

Either way, I never understand these posts "if only this one feature worked I'd use Android full time" - is this supposed to make the devs more interested in getting this one feature working, just for you? lol.

Anyhoo, not much progress has been made on BT. No one quite seems sure what the issue is, and it seems to be one of those mysterious problems that won't get much attention unless a) some dev really cares about it or b) it's the last major issue.

Neither of those things have occurred yet, so be patient. Personally, I can't use Android full time until the calling issues get settled, but I'm not going to gripe about how I can't use it 100% of the time - this project isn't meant to replace WinMo, especially at this stage.

Agreed, and I think some of the devs decided to hold off looking at it until 2.3 code gets released. Supposedly the new stack may make it a little easier to get working.

If there is a "must-have" feature for you, I highly recommend finding out which developer has the most experience in that area, and make a nice bounty offer for them. If everyone chipped in and had a nice bounty of $500 or something, I'm pretty sure they would spend more time looking into it.

I guess I didn't really know what i was thinking typing this up. I saw those replies from a mile away :/
I understand its done when its done.
I guess my question is more of is there a place where i can keep track of the development for it. I remember back in the day there was a change log that i read every single day LOL. Not much of a programmer but i would also help with any testing/breaking of the device.

There is a reason why people in the dark keep asking about the light.

What about the calling on your phone is broken? Mine, and everyone that I know that is running Android on our TP2's have zero calling issues. The sound issues were all corrected months ago for us.

To the OP, I also want the BT to work. That is the only thing I miss not having on my phone, and I run Android 24/7. I have to break the law to make a call now!

Like the sound fix, I figure one day some dude will just have BT working. And that will be that. There are IRC chat logs that can be followed, but there is nothing really for us to do until its working anyway. Or you could learn to program and be a hero to us all!

If you've had zero issues with calls, then you haven't been using Android enough to make/receive calls

It's all a WIP, and progress happens in spurts. Seems the focus now is on framebuffer and graphic performance - which is looking very promising indeed.

The best place to find updates is probably IRC, but there's a lot of HD2 chatter going on in the room... Otherwise just keep updated with the threads!

Re: Does the future hold BT for andriod on TP2?

I have a Sprint TP2 and so does my buddy at work and we have zero issues with phone calls. For us, after the crackly sound was fixed, all the one sided sound issues went away for ever.

We both use our phones for work, and they are both in Android 24/7. Zero phone issues. I did setup both our phones, so maybe I have the magic touch. I'd be willing to share my files with anyone that still has phone issues...

Sorry op for stealing your thread.

Unless you're using some custom files, then it wouldn't do me any good... and as much as I'd like to believe you have the 'magic touch', I honestly doubt that's it.

So you've never had the phone flip the speakerphone on and reset in the middle of a call? I've had that happen so many times it's not even funny. It just does a reset with Android, and the call continues. However, since speakerphone mic doesn't function in a call at the moment, the person on the other end then cannot hear me.

This is getting pretty OT, but there's still some serious outstanding issues with phone calls. I also still have issues where the radio just decides to cycle itself. Part of my job is testing the crap out of systems, so I put Android thru the ringer on my phone - you guys probably don't

Re: Does the future hold BT for andriod on TP2?

Yeah way off topic, but neither my phone or my co-workers has any problems with the speaker anymore. This was a problem for us only after the sound was fixed. But soon after that, there was a mod that fixed the problem for good.

I get dozens of calls a day, and make around over 20 a day, so I would know if there was a problem. I am in sales support, and this is my only phone.

I rar'ed all my system files and I'll pm you links to them. Maybe something inside will fix your calling issues. I'd say try formatting and just use the ones that work for me. I've used used these same files for quite a few reboots and whatever is in them always works regarding phone calls at least...
