Edit: If you managed to download it in the first 5 minutes, I forgot to remove the part where it overwrites gralloc for wvga. You will have to re-download it if that was the case.

Thanks dood.. also i posted a dev only thread on xda. I need more animals involved so we can get this stuff done.

3d Enhancement (dev only) - xda-developers

Modifying gralloc is pretty easy so let me know if you want to get involved.

I'd love to take a look and learn. I have had an account at XDA for a few years now, but they still don't let me post hyperlinks... so I don't really post anything over there. May post a few times just to get the count up so I can post links, hehe.

Tiad have you tried the latest (11.30) what have your results been? I'm waiting for a conference call to start so I have to stay in WM for a few hours... just trying to live vicariously till I can try it myself lol.

Also, in the first post you might want to change the latest update text to 11.30 otherwise you'll get alot of people mistakenly asking for the "11.29" update. Make sense? Just a suggestion.

Re: 3d driver for testing with gralloc. UPDATED 11.30.10

I've got a fresh andboot from the 11/22 FRX03 build loaded on my SD card. Haven't booted haret yet. I've replaced the froyo.user.conf file with the new version from post 1. I've dumped the libGLES_qcom.so (11/29) and gralloc.msm7k.so (11/30) file in my root andboot folder. Is that correct? Should i be able to boot now with the new driver and test gralloc? Sorry for the n00b question. Haven't messed with .so files yet.

Firsthand I've only messed with the libGLES file and that worked fine from the actual root of the sd card itself, make sure you dont put it in the Andboot folder itself.

I havent seen it written anywhere but I assume the gralloc.so should also work from sd card root in the same way...

For clarification (from an expert: Nate, ACL, Tiad) CAN the 2 .so files work when placed in other folders?

Re: 3d driver for testing with gralloc. UPDATED 11.29.10

Thanks for the quick response invincible! I think i'll hold off on gralloc for now until i get clarification from ACL. I'll also move the .so files to the SD root instead of andboot.

Hey guys i was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out. I am using neopeek frg83 build and the problem is i do not understand how to make this work?

I have the build where it is the 3 different partitions. android, ext2 and linux swap. android is the one where its like storage card etc and the ext2 is the one with all the system stuff. problem is i dont see that with the regular windows explorer. how do i go about getting in there. i added the 11.29 libgles to the android partion where haret is and the gralloc but there was zero difference in the neocore speeds or in general. what am i doing wrong? Thank you very much!

NEOPEEK BUILDS (WINDOWS) (DOWNLOAD WINRAR OR 7 ZIP)
ok. do this. you have two options. 1. sync your phone and travel to your SD card, find the EXT2 tar file. travel to SYSTEM/LIB/EGL/REPLACE THE OLD DRIVER HERE. options 2. turn off your phone, take the SD card out and put into you PC. and do the same. you don't need to update you froyo.user.conf with neopeek build. 1-SYSTEM/LIB/EGL/REPLACE THE OLD DRIVER HERE. 2-SYSTEM/LIB/HW/REPLACE THE OLD GRALLOC HERE. good look. thank you

Hey tiad how do you mount the gralloc if i am running the xdandroid build? I don't know if i did it right and i probably didn't because all I did was put the gralloc on the root of the sd card. Please explain like you did the last time for me thanks

Re: 3d driver for testing with gralloc. UPDATED 11.29.10

booted Reefer's 11/22 FRX003, Overclocked to 700Mhz using the startup utility with HW3D, etc, with 11/30 gralloc and 11/29 libGLES

Using FPS2D, I benchmarked it at 20FPS - same as the 11/27 libGLES w/o the updated gralloc. I also benchmarked overall speed using Linkpack where I scored an average of 4.5 MFLOPS. This is better than the 3.5 MFLOPS I was getting with 11/27. Angry Birds is still as slow and choppy as ever.

1. How can I be sure that the new gralloc and libGLES was mounted once I am already in Android?
2. Is there a different utility that I should be using for benchmarking?
3. Is there a specific rootFS that I should be using?

1. pc or or Linux, right click at files then properties then you will see how big are the files in kb. now, in android get astro file manager, travel to your system.ext2. system/lib/egl or hw/
2. I use neocore and quadrant from market.
3. it's good, to be up to date. thanks

Ok, so ive been digging more and more into angry birds and we wont be able to get it to run like it does on the newever devices. The game itself was designed in a way that it just wont perform well. Some devs on xda actually took apart the game to get the performance increase. Now Rovio said they will work on it but for now i would try out the modded angry birds if you really want a performance gain.

Eventually you will have to run the gralloc and lib that allocate the same amount of memory for the frame buffer. Thats the main difference between all the lib releases 26 is the plain lib, 27 was bumped up just a tad so we can load more but 29 is the correct one which will most likely work with almost anything 3d. The others might flicker or break depending on how the app uses it.

ACL - thanks for the note. I am embarrased to ask, but do you have a link to the modded Angry Birds?

Also, besides putting the build.prop in the root SD folder, do I need to reference it in the froyo.conf file?

I'm running xdandroid, I updated froyo.user.conf for gralloc (11/30) and libGLES (11/29), running FRX03, updated to the rootfs file nate posted earlier in thread, deleted data.img to start over and I'm having issues w/ getting the phone to wake using the power button. Sometimes it will work with the end button sometimes it takes opening the slider, sometimes the power button, but it's usually slow to wake regardless. Anyone else having issues? ACL, Nate, Tiad, what would be the "recommended" files to use, i.e. which libGLES date, etc? Also got 17.9 on neocore and 562 on quadrant. Not too different than what I was getting before OC'd (still OC'ing also)

Ok, I did read that when you had posted it (but I will admit, a lot of it is over my head). I believe I'm running the correct gralloc and lib, and assuming that the latest rootfs made the change to the buttons. Am I missing something else that's obvious???
