What is the best base rom to have while running Android?
What does everyone recommend as far as a base rom while running droid? And would there be any differences in speed?
I have seen: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-android-development/113402-v1-2-calkulins-stripped-roms-android-dualboot-6-5-6-1-a.html and http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...boot-time.html Thanks Last edited by geeksquad; 09-29-2010 at 04:08 AM. |

Stock and Mighty Rom both had worked the same.
Rom doesn't matter. However.... Radio versions might. |

Once haret runs, it shouldn't matter what ROM you're using, right? Turning off sense and disabling start-up programs just makes the load time faster, I would think. Since dual boot doesn't have to compete with other startup programs. Just my guess though.
Although, if that were the case, why would it matter what setting I had for auto-dim backlight in windows? |

What do you mean by radio exactly? And what is NAND and is there any advantages or disadvantages to it? Thanks

As far as NAND boot, it is where you literally don't have Windows Mobile on the phone at all. There is a little bit of code on the internal memory of the phone that loads Android from the SD card immediately upon turning on the phone. It is still in development, and the eventual goal is to run Android directly off the internal memory just like we do right now with Windows Mobile. There are two threads on it at the moment, with the first being the main thread with all the information in it, and the second being an updated thread with the latest builds in the first post. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...tilt2-fix.html http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...epository.html |

Is there anyway to ruin or brick your phone using NAND? And is this how you run Android?

Available memory would be a factor to consider though. I would imagine the 35Mb stripped Roms would allow more available memory in Android than the 120Mb stock rom, or the 80s or 90s of many custom Roms.

And yes, that is how I am running it right now. There is some work still to be done to bring it to where Haret is feature-wise, but it sure feels faster and more stable to me on NAND. |
