Has the ear piece sound been improved?

So I tried using Android for my default OS, but one of the reasons I went back to WinMo was cause the earpiece volume was so quiet, if you were in a loud place you couldnt hear anything(atleast I couldn't).

So my question is, now that sounds fixed can the volume be turned louder? or is it still just as quiet?

I hope you're joking! Sounds works now. Try reading some of the stickies above.

and @ OP - You can set the in call volume with your startup.txt and choose 1,2,3,4,5 now the default is 5 and it's freaking LOUD.

Re: Has the ear piece sound been improved?

Sure in your startup.txt file in your andboot folder add a value called:
htc_hw.call_vol = 5

You can change it from 5 to 4, 3, 2, or 1. Where 5 is the loudest of course.

From what I have heard this setting does not have an effect...I guess it doesn't hurt to try though...

That supposed fix did absolutely nothing.

Re: Has the ear piece sound been improved?

Have you updated to the latest kernel zImage and modules? From http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/and...htc-msm-linux/

I ask because once I did that not only does sound work, but it makes the earpiece volume MUCH louder. Actually TOO loud, because it crackles/distorts/clips a bit when the other side says something loudly. But I believe they're still working on that. Its still much better than when the sound was too quiet to use.

But to answer your question, no there currently isn't any way to change it to my knowledge. But as I said, the default is much much louder.

Edit: And it looks like theres already a quick-and-dirty fix for it being so loud it causes distortion. Available here: http://sites.google.com/site/android...llvolumeupdate
