Well I tried it.... It broke sound in WM but idk about android... im trying to install it but it's been instaling for like 20 min. so i guess ill update you guys on what happens.

Well android won't even boot for me with the new audio .dll file.... no luck there.

tried on a rhod400
OS:WM6.5 Inferno
HSPL: 2.0

Didn't work, all sound was gone, even call sound.
I will try with a different rom and 1.3 HSPL

Causes endless reboots when cooked into the rom. Trying it recmodded just to test.

First I tried it as a module (reversmod) which caused the device to endlessly reboot. After that I tried the original file and got no sound. This was 2 separate tests.

Could you extract a wavedev.dll from somewhere else so that when copied in the sound works? And post it?

I'm not sure what you mean, but here's the original wavedev.dll from OEMDrivers (I recmodded it so that it can be examined).

By cooking it into a rom, certs should not matter btw, incase you were thinking it was that.

So if you copy this file you just posted over whatever is there. Then your sound starts working again? I want a file that causes sound to start working again.

I copied that file to the windows directory and sound still worked after a reboot, so that should fix anyone who tested your wavedev.

Wozzer, that is great news. Unfortunately I can't pull the same trick on my phone. I think your Rom must be making it work. Which is good, that was the point of the test. I have a GSM rhod, so I can't use your rom. But perhaps you could give info on how you cooked it. What settings etc.

The ultimate goal of this project involves a couple more steps. But since you have a working dll, and a phone that will load it. It should work. Copy that dll file to /Windows/wavedev.dlo Notice the 'o'.

Copy the attachment over wavedev.dll.

Change HKLM/Drivers/builtin/Speakerphone/Dll. to wavedev.dlo

Reboot and cross fingers. Always bootloops for me.

Change everything back.

Reboot.

I can build one last rom before I fall asleep.

Original wavedev.dll -> wavedev.dlo

Wrapper -> wavedev.dll

change registery back to original file (wavedev.dlo)?

Edit: On my previous test (post #212, I overwrote an already working dll, but since it replaced it, it shouldn't matter). Building new rom now.

i would like to try this but i am kind of confused with the files. so what are the stpes to test this?

1. take the orignal wavedev.dll and rename it to wavedev.dlo
2. take the wavedevicerapper.dll and rename that to wavedev.dll?

please let me know if i am missing something or completely wrong

so with the wavedev.dll, you are getting both speaker sound and incall sounds?
Does this affect winmo sound after you boot back to winMo?

I am just gonna put this out there....if your not sure what do from reading here...then my suggestion is dont do it...or you are gonna be back here trying to figure out what went wrong...just mho

If you overwrote your original wavedev.dll, the easiest way to fix it is to goto the windows directory, delete wavedev.dll and the rom should restore the original back.

Is this a wavedev.dll replacement, or another wrapper?

Edit: It's 4K right, so I'm assuming it's a wrapper/loader?

Edit2: Flashing now, I'll let you know in a few minutes if it worked.

Edit3: I seem to have lost sound from this one. It does not create any sort of long as well. I'll try reflashing it again and see if it works on a second try.

Edit4: I've got VS2008 installed with the Smart device SDK installed, do you have the source code, or the fixed code that I can try to compile? (I want the source from a known working version, so I know if I screwed something up or not)

It is another wrapper/loader. Same deal with renaming the old wavedev.dll and changing the reg entry.

Tried a second flash, still no sound coming from the device. I used the exact same stuff I did for the first wrapper (with the new .dll, old .dlo)

Here is the source for the first version. I hex edited it to change wavedev.dll to wavedev.dlo. so you probably want to search and replace. To get something that works.

Just looking over the source i noticed i didn't change all of the .dll to .dlo. But those functions aren't really called so i don't know that the deal is.

a different person did compile this one. so maybe the .def file wasn't used or something.

BTW, that's clever about deleting the dll to restore the one in rom. Hadn't thought of that.

That's probably the case (about not using the def), since the new dll has no exports. I'm trying to see if I can figure out how to compile this myself now.

I think I've got the code compiled correctly. I'm rebooting now (if that doesn't work, I'll try a re-flash). I've got the exports in dll. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Didn't work just moving it to the /windows folder. Building and flashing now with my compiled dll.

ok i see where i went wrong. Switching from debug to build didnt carry the def file with it.

Also im getting a warning that the def export doesnt match the dll. The def has waveDeviceWrapper as the library name where the dll is wavedev. Want me to recompile or Wozz got it?

Nope, I think I managed to get it. Attached is the wav.log of me just adjusting the sound level.

If this gets sound working, could the same thing theoretically be done for 3d as well?
