Does the AOSP build offer any speed improvements or anything other than being a clean os?

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2 Rhodium Updated 4-20-2010

Hey guys,I just got my first smart phone like 3 days ago.The touch pro by US cellular & since I have tried & tried to install Android on storage card but it either runs the boot screen for ever or it hangs up and goes to a black screen like it is now as a matter of fact.
I downloaded the 05.12.10 and put all files on root of SD and clicked the icon to get it started but nothing has worked so far.
Do I still have to do what was mentioned waaay back in 1st post?

Next, I recommend you delete the zImage and modules files that are part of that release and update to the latest explained next.
?

i am now done downloading newest Sense build so i guess ill delete all files on SD and put Sense there and run it? I'm confused, anyone feel like helping me out? Once the OS is installed I can go from there, lol I don't understand what I am doing wrong??

Thanks in advance.

Does this take time to install the 1st time like Ubuntu would on a dual boot system on PC?
Sense is doing basically same thing, goes through a long list of characters, hangs for awhile then another list,is it installing or what is going on please lol?

The best sense build you should use would be the one from 5/4/10. If you put all the files from the sense build in the root of the SD it may not load due to the fact the startup.txt file has the rel_path=andbootS statement so you should delete that from the cmdline.

Here is the link to the 5/4/10 build

Sense05-04-10.zip

The first time it boots it should scroll through a bunch of text, then show a black screen for a while, next the Klinux screen will show the hero screen then the htc screen for a while. Then the interface will start to load. This usually will take 20 minutes the first time. Being patient is critical for this to load. This includes each step after it boots in to android. After it is all setup I would hold the hangup button until the menu shows to power off then say OK to reboot. Now launch haret.exe again this time it will run smoother.

Other things to make sure to try.

1. Try a different MicroSD card
2. Make sure the MicroSD card is at least 1GB
3. Make sure there is not a SIM card inserted. (I know USCC does not have them in there normally)
4. Make sure the andbootS folder is on the root of the SD card (eg E:\andbootS\) and the files are in this folder

Good luck

Yes, the AOSP version boots quicker and runs a little fast.

Hey thanks allot for the reply. That was the build I tried but wasn't aware of issue with txt file.I'll try that.
Do both the initrd & modules-2.6.27.46-01079-g8dfd613.tar files need to be unzipped as well?
Or they stay left alone?

Where is the txt file you mentioned?

Read the first post...
Do not unzip either of those, rename the intrd.xxxx.gz file to initrd.gz and copy the modules file as is to the root of your SD card (or into whatever folder you have the android set to boot into).
The startup.txt can be found attached to post #1.
