what are rootfs and initrd.gz Builds purpose for android?

RootFS is a special type of ramfs file system. It basically lets us use part of the memory as a partition for caching files. Initrd gets things started and the rest of the startup is handled by rootfs. The caching of files on this ram disk gives us a nice performance boost.

Initrd is an initial RAM disk that is temporary and used only for initial booting. So long story short, they are both used for booting, and rootfs injects certain drivers like the keyboard and LED drivers.

Hrm you lost your data cxn? Haven't heard any RHODs complain. The only thing the modules would break is pretty much wifi... modules file wouldn't have anything to do with your cell-radio's cxn to the internet.

At any rate, you can certain try to delete (move, rename) your data.img.

hi, guys

i have a question for the devs.

overclockin would drain the battery faster?
i have my startup on. (acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=716800) or should i have it on acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=540672 = 528Mhz Stock speed. i haven't try this yet.

Ya arrrghhh the data wouldn't work even with the new kernel but once I deleted the data.img data seemed to work again but I reestablished my old data.img so i dont have to update all my apps from titanium backup until something big is fixed.

There is a minor battery drain due to a little extra heat, but nothing major. To disable the OC, just remove the overclock option from startup.txt and it will revert to stock speed.

Is there a toggle microphone widget (similar to the toggle data widget) I could use so I don't have to make a phone call then hang-up every time I want to use voice search or voice dial?

Nope, the issue is with our kernel not with Android. There's already a fix that works, hopefully it'll get pushed soon so all can enjoy :D

Anyone else having issues sending emails with gmail. I am on version 2.3 and everytime I try and send an email it just sits in the outbox saying sending. I swear it used to work fine awhile back, but no luck now.

I think there was an update to gmail a while back... did you get it? I just use accounts & sync to access my gmail tho, I don't use any special apps (to my knowledge)

That is how I have been doing it. Since it wasn't working I searched around and saw 2.3 mentioned so I installed it. Still no luck.
