You can view the EPST settings by opening the phone, press ##778 and dial. Press view and it will show what you are looking for. Most likely though it will be yourcell#@uscc.net.

MSID should be your cell. The other fields you would look at are ESN. Using MSID allowed me to connect.

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

Ok, I was able to get my data to work. My MSID was NOT my phone#, it was completly different. It also wasn't the ESN either... I think at some point Tech Support changed this to troubleshoot a problem. Just a helpful piece of info...

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

USCC Metro Chicago
cell# used for user and pass

Got it working ...YEAH YEAH
first couple attempts didnt work....but I didnt loose my cool...
took a deep breathe...walked away from it for an hour...
came back and tried it again.... works with the manual method...
seems its sketchy though...
first 2 attempts no go
3rd attemp go
4th and 5th attempt no go
6th attempt go
7th attempt go (current state)

so all i can say...try everything everyone posted...and dont give up
I was certain I didnt make any typos earlier, so maybe this is just the current behavior of the build....

thanks to everyone who helped gettin data somewhat working for us USCC peeps
peace

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

Also, is there a way to batch automate the command to copy the files, or do we need to do this by hand every time?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm a WM user, and very new with Android...

We are attempting to work it out. Keep watching this thread and we should have something figured out soon.

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

LOL, Good to see you here Cliff... I just posted the data update in HF. If I can help let me know. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who isn't ESN OR phone number... Good to know to check the WM side and get the info before going to Android.

Perhaps you need to make sure your script programs run in su/root mode?

(Another possible issue: Maybe your script (and mine) should end in .sh? When I tried to download my "fix" file using Android's browser it said filetype unsupported. But when I renamed the file on my server to fix.sh it allowed me to download. So there is a chance your script programs [??] require scripts to end in .sh ?)

PS. What are these script programs? Maybe we can make the fix script easier for people by using a GUI click-and-run solution, instead of requiring people to go into a console and type out "su" and "/sdcard/fix"

Hehe. I'd say maybe yes I can type it by hand and it works (that's how I figured out I forgot the 'user ' part) so I know the script is OK... but it has to be +x ("chmod +x scriptname") to make it executable, and it has to be run as root ('superuser' why we type "su" before entering commands.) Although I think when I downloaded it from the web it was already +x / executable... don't know if that will be true for copies over USB too...

Yep, when I use EStrongs File Explorer to view/edit files and I use Android Terminal Emulator. I always start out by typing in 'su' or another program I tried as well there was a "Super User" radio option I always selected. The program editor sometimes capitalizes the first letter and I have to remember to double check that, but when I check the files manually they are never changed.

I tried the .sh and it did not work either.

Thanks again eval- for all of your suggestions.

Good to see you here too. Thanks for putting it up on Howardforums. I have not had enough time to post anything over there. I think it must be the MSID as shown when you dial ##000000. Can you revise your post in HF and I will update it here. Thanks. So for some their MSID happens to be their phone number and others not.

I think now if we can find an app that will execute scripts as a super user we can make this simpler. Better yet one that runs it automatically when android boots up. Anyone who has the time please see what you can find. I am working late to upgrade our VMWare servers tonight and wont have time to play till tomorrow.
