To try and help answer some of the common questions I have updated the PPCGeeks wiki to include Frequently Asked Questions on http://wiki.ppcgeeks.com/index.php?t...2_Android_Port. If you know of any repeat questions that I missed, please feel free to update the wiki and direct forum goers to the common answers.

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
OK guys. I just tried this again, and this time, I ran my battery down to 90% before booting Android. I then plugged in my usb cord, and ran Haret. IN android, I ran the phone HARD for about an hour with web pages, media streams and anything else I could get to work. Upon booting back into windows, Batt says 100%. This is my phone. I am not crazy. :headbang:
EDIT: Another way to see this. Load up android and then unplug your cable. The battery monitor should be running showing you "100" in the top right corner. Go ahead and slide the top taskbar down to see "Advanced Task Killer and the Battry Monitor. The voltage should be right there. Unplug your phone for a few mins. The voltage will drop. Give it a few mins to get down a bit. Now turn your screen back on. The voltage will be much lower. (mine started at appx. 4.8v and dropped to about 4.3 before I plugged it in) Now go ahead and pop that cable back in. after about 30 seconds the voltage will begin to go back up until it reaches 4.8v again. I'm posting this because it takes less time and still shows the same outcome. She's charging. Not huge, but closer nonetheless. |

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
commit 7be0a6588fd3ca1e025b09cde120afaeeaf942da
Author: HUSSON Pierre-Hugues Date: Sun Mar 14 12:39:29 2010 +0100 Add rhodium proximity driver. As there is no proper API for on/off yet, I added two cmdline options: board-htcrhodium-proximity.on=1 to enable the proximity device (default off) board-htcrhodium-proximity.wake=1 to wake up the phone on proximity change. Might need a to-low/to-high filter. __ Wondering if the above statement taken from the kernel autobuild site means that if I add that line to my set cmdline it might make the proximity sensor work... Anyone have any thoughts on this? Will test and update... Nope..Don't go and do that. :) Reading it again I believe the author added the options but is awaiting the driver to be added/written. |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
Be careful about build msm-android@20100316_102354. See the notes before downloading. IRC log shows it for the diamond. Audio jack does not apply to us, and the screen is under increased sensitivity again. Lots of double taps. Can't even move icons on screen.
Just an FYI in case someone else downloads it and comes to complain. You can still try it to see if anything is different for you. Just keep a backup of your old zimage and modules. |

You have enough posts in this forum to know what it is about.......even though you may have missed it you still could have at least read a few pages back....sure you would have seen something about sound...seeing that it is mentioned daily...so instead of getting mad just read a little more next time.... |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
So, when you are all done bickering about reading posts and searching, can someone tell me if sound works yet? lol
And please don't tell me to go back to page 1 as I have no intention of hitting my back key for 129 pages...... |

When scrolling, does everyone have the issue of accidently clicking things when you want to scroll? I think that is what bugs me the most as it just takes to long to do something as I need to click back everytime I accidently click something......

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
I had a different outcome. My phone was at 91% in WinMo and I booted up the latest build of android. Checked the battery monitor and voltage was around 4.5, left it for a while, nothing changed. Then I plugged in the phone to my computer and the orange LED came on, just like it does when in WinMo, but the voltage never changed. Rebooted back into WinMo after 2 hours and the battery was at 72%.
No charging for me from computer, havent tried the wall charger which would provide a little more power yet, that will be next. Quote:

Booted into Android with phone plugged in. Checked back two hours later to find phone off and battery dead. Note: I did move the phone from one wall charger to another after booting into Android. If the OP is actually getting a charge perhaps it must be started in winmo and maintained? |

On a side note: I dont know is this is really the case but I get the feeling that at least part of WM is running when we're in Android. It seems like when I restart my phone and the dual boot screen comes up, if I click to start windows it loads incredibly fast. Its as if windows is already loading in the background. Does running Haret shut down all processes on the WM side? Could it be that some processes are still functional, e.g. battery charging? |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
I think that when you use that Dual Boot Cab it still loads into windows before launching the screen to choose windows or Android. That is why allot of us are just making a short cut in the start menu to launch haret. I have the cab that installs haret with the android guy and made a short cut to the start menu and then just placed it in the top short cut links in Sense 2.5.

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
Last night my spare battery had a charge of 40% in winmo. I launched android and then plugged in my phone. I left it plugged in all night and by morning I had a full charge.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm using 95 civic's build 3-6-10, |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
mine always says 100% in android from the build I installed yesterday.
no biggie though, I'm going to be patient and wait until the sound is worked out and start messing with it again. |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
i can browse the web/internet just fine in 3g. i get the error message in the apps store "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." each and every time i try to download anything.
any ideas? |
Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
I wonder what they mean by "audio" on the port status page when we all know it does not work: http://www.androidonhtc.com/wiki/Port_Status
Just noticed under the Rhodium CDMA section it says "yes" Not trying to start a fire or anything, just hoping for accurate updates. |

Hey got a question...It's a tiny annoyance that I can live with but just thought I'd check..When I boot into android it loads into landscape mode...I have to open the keyboard and shut it to get it to switch...I have read through all of these forums and havnt seen anything about it..I have unchecked the orientation box in android and it still loads like that...Anyone else have this happen or is it normal for now? Thanks for any help!
