bythegroove, did you register your phone on the phone network? I had no data until I did this, then the 3G icon came up and data was working (VZW, btw).

I ran with Android last night for several hours... exchange push working with TOUCHDOWN, B of A mobile banking, and several other really cool applications. Even made a few calls. Cannot wait until I can use it all day!

infact with the latest kernal, everything is alot worse, sensitivty especially, running alot slower now, and way more force closes going on. For me atleast....pretty sure I did everything correctly as IM not new to this
Ive tried every combo to get charging to work, on my USCC TP2. nothing........and Still no data (but I expected that....

My only ? since we know data is not finished, is anyone working on it still? Only half people have data, to me that says not working... just a thought

Sounds like you might have some corruption in your data.img. Might need to wipe it and let it create a new one.

As far as only half the people have data, if you mean that half the people are Sprint/Verizon, then ya, I guess that is right. But USCC and MetroPCS and possible others that require login info etc are still being worked out. I believe that MrPippy is wanting someone to do some logging with their phones to try and determine what it is looking for. But till USCC or others maybe come out with an Andorid phone to look at how they are accomplishing data, being as it is different than Sprint and Verizon, not sure if it can be worked out or not. I feel for ya. But this is a known issue if you look around.

just out of curiosity, what is different between USCC/Metro and Sprint/Verizon? We have established that they do not dial #777 to get to their data, so how do they connect? Do they dial a different number? Or is it some other process completely?

I found this comment kind of funny...The user is saying he was able to get the phone to stop hissing after making a call. He thought this was a good thing. In reality this is a bad thing. The hissing noise is there because the devs are trying to get sound working. There is supposed to be a parameter in the statup that tells android whether you want the speaker enabled or not.

So now on to what the user did find...a bug...If the hissing did go away after a call it indicates that after the speaker was disabled during the phone call it was not properly reinitialized when the call was ended.

Lol that's exactly what I thought of when I read that.

For those that want to try it, mind you this hasn't been completely signed off on yet, but we are pretty confident it is fine. Here is the latest kernel from today with the tssc fix in it for the double taps on the touchscreen. Thanks go out to bzo for the patch. I have patched todays latest kernel with it and am running it fine myself. So try as you might, hopefully we will get it committed here sometime later tonight.

Just extract, delete your existing zImage and modules files, and then copy these files over.

Edit: Guess I should mention I have been running the patch for a couple of days now without an issue, I just updated to the latest kernel for posting.

Anyone else having trouble with the market using this? I see the post about processes being stopped. Pretty sure thats android.process.media. Most likely a side effect of recent audio work. I'm going to try it again with a fresh install and see. Just looking for user input (as they asked for).

Edit: My outcome - Market gives an error and forces closed. Fresh install stopped some "process.media" errors, but it seems like a jump backward for us in other areas. I hope this isn't the one they will be releasing. Screen is phenominal, but I believe this is going back a few steps as well. Input anyone?

Marketplace is working ok for me.. downloaded and installed a few apps with the latest build to try it out.

The screen is way better I think in this new build. Much Much more accurate.

ok... this may be a long post, lol... but should answer some questions for people!!

heads up for anyone wanting to export contacts:
I just downloaded a program for wm6 called "thunderbird contacts export".
1 exe file and it only took about 2 seconds to export my 400 contacts in csv format.
I am cleaning up the list now (formatting the numbers the same) then going to upload them into my google voice contacts (which is all tied into my google account on android).
****edit****
if you want to export your contacts from wm to your google contacts DON'T use this software, haha... it is nice just for a contact list, but you will need to format A LOT to get to work properly with google contacts!
****end edit****

****2nd edit - google contacts backup****
if you are wanting to copy your contacts to your google account use this method!!
http://www.google.com/support/mobile...36&topic=14299
just go to activesync on your phone (this will copy your phone contacts to your google account!!)
you DO NOT need to connect your phone to your computer to do this, setup the server settings and click sync!
worked like a charm and it was 100x easier then editing the csv file.
****2nd edit end****

I know there is several facebook apps out there for android but I was wondering if anyone had any luck with them, I don't want to clutter up my phone with useless apps. I want to be able to link my facebook contacts with the ones in my address book along with view facebook statuses just like the hero does.

also... I want to be able to view the weather & time on the front screen just like the hero & my current windows mobile, I've downloaded an app that has that ability, but have no clue on how to change it and was wondering if it may of already been added??

marketplace is soooo sweet!!
noticed it IS different from the stock hero marketplace though.
example: on the hero you cannot find "imeem" in the list, but on these tp2 android builds you can.... anyone know why that is for the hero?? I was playing around with my buddy's last night and we noticed some differences.

Sprint Hero is running an older version of Android than what you are running on the TP2, and on top of that, the Hero Android probably has a skinned Marketplace due to SenseUI. But regardless, different apps will show up for different versions of Android.
