for those of you with experience with running android on wm6 models, is it faster or slower than the other roms available? how is it switching between programs compared to wm6 and the iphone?
android on the tp2 really would be the best of both worlds. the lack of cool apps like the iphone has made me waiting for the new iphone but if i can keep my super cheap sprint plan (better than sero) than that would be ideal. like sero, i'm not allowed to have an android phone so this would be amazing |

Re: Android, it's alive!.. (2.0.1) - Updated 12/24
I am TRYING to follow all the different threads on this. Just got my wife a Hero for her Bday and I fell in love but I cannot do without my keyboard heh. So I started trying different builds and such and none so far have I been able to do CDMA radio on. I know it is in the works.
I am visiting my parents, due to my mom being in the hospital and in downtime started doing more research and saw the builds for the original TP, which my father still has. So I tried it last night and surprisingly, the radio on CDMA works there. It still has some of the other flaws like the Mic not working or something, I can't recall. Basically could hear one way but not the other heh. Anyways, the fact that the radio worked makes me wonder what we can do to make it work on the TP2 being as they are essentially the same hardware other than the BT stack and the Screen and Keyboard of course. But it was fairly functional just had some issues data wise and it was slow. We probably need, and I am sure there are just got to find them threads that focus on GSM and CDMA separately heh. But if anyone has the steps or links to the kernel they used for CDMA Sprint that would be wonderful. Seems that is the jist of what we have to change to make it work with the newer builds. I am so stoked of seeing this fully functional someday, Android seriously is pretty slick with the apps available and speed, which surely will get worked out on our hardware. But I love my hardware keyboard for long emails and such so I can't goto a Hero quite yet heh. If they ever brought the HD2 to us and got an Android port for it, that I could see making work with the screen size heh. Anyways, thanks so much for everyone that is working on this and thanks for continuing development. |

Re: Android, it's alive!.. (2.0.1) - Updated 12/24
I used the raphael build yesterday afternoon on rhodium. It loaded but no keys were mapped - hence why I asked why the keys weren't mapped yesterday in the xdandroid release...and I got a response that really didn't help much =/
but for now I'd say sit tight a patch should be coming I think 95 civic is working on...so I would just say keep on the lookout..I'm more intrigued with porting the sense ui - thats the only reason to have android I mean being realistically the rest of it shows as a shoddy not fully developed OS in attempt to make it big...sense at least is pretty but android has my intrigue just because of the speed of evolution of the project |

There is a SenseUI version out there, sorry the link escapes me, once I find it I will paste it, I have it on mine right now, but need to put the right kernel on. I might try the Raphael kernel on it and see if I can combine the two.
Correction, I bookmarked it whoohoo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=608430 |

the zimage is weird I haven't been able to get it to work everything else does but not the zimage of the file hosted...if anyone has more experience with android give me a hand with the zimage fro the hero sense? the system root and everything works but yeah no zimage
edit actually spoke too soon it seems to work I am booting the hero image surprisingly...but it is very very small...almost too small its like 240x320 size which is very weird and I am watching the htc bootup animation now....so definitely still need some help on resizing these files and I'm not sure on somethings it may be the config file I think I used eclair I'll post the build and see if someone can give it a shot because its been a few minutes and its still booting up on my touch pro 2 this is the longest load up ever edit now black screen wait it looks like it recursivel loads the htc hero android boot logo so still lots of work to be done. I'll add the conf files too and see if it helps Last edited by Noir; 01-09-2010 at 01:24 PM. |
