Just booted it up and am seeing the flying droids! Thanks for your quick and easy help, I haven't come to a screen to calibrate the screen yet but will give it time.

That should completely bypass the whole config screen.

I remember that screwing me up too because it gets hidden by a wall of text and then freezes.

Make sure and check out the 1260 kernel/zimage on xda. It seems to work better then the 1258 from what I've seen.

I have tried updating kernels in the past and don't understand what exactly to d/l. While reading the xda post it says d/l both if you use wifi, if not than d/l only the zimage. Once d/l I assume just putting them directly into my sd card/ frx04 folder and than boot haret. This there anything that I am missing that I should look for while updating the kernel?

Those who have clocking issues 1260 will probably work worse for... Doesn't seem to effect all devices/SD's tho, it's an odd one.

Just delete your old zimage/module and replace them with the new one.

Make sure to remove all the junk so the new zimage just says "zimage"

So, I won't be too mean :p.

There's been several theories. The one that seems to work the most consistently is backup everything on the SD and format it using the HP Tool. Put everything back on the SD, try again.

I've also heard there's a mediascanner you can force rerun. Gingerbread will hopefully fix this, as the ringtones will be in the system image instead of on the SD (media folder).

i read the FAQ but it wasnt specific to my tone issue. Will try reformating the card. thanks,

An easy way for next time is to open the file in notepad, and when you save it, 1) Put quotes around the file name; and 2) Save an "ANSI".
