This build isn't really about testing wifi, so if wifi is necessary for you, you should probably use a different kernel.

That said, I've seen this issue before, and it went away for me when I switched to a different system.ext2, which is bizarre and a little inexplicable to me.

IMHO, we should be testing these kernels on FRX04 and nothing else. If you guys test on other system images and have oddities, I'm just going to blame those other system images .

Also, thanks for the wifi comment - this build is not about testing wifi, we're focusing on panel wake and battery life.

On that note, a new kernel!

This time, system_server is on the chopping block. WisTilt2 has a workaround for system_server, but it is NOT in this kernel. This kernel will probably cause the system_server issue as usual, but there's additional logging traps placed in this kernel to hopefully expose the root cause of the system_server issue, instead of just fixing it in a hack.

Basically grab the newest kernel, boot your phone. Assuming you have a system_server condition (verify thru top) pull your dmesg and post it.

Not sure if you have to wait until you resolve the system_server bug, but it seems like a good idea so WisTilt2 has a dmesg log of a "complete" run thru the bug. Thanks!

Re: [TESTING] Updated 2/2/11 New Kernel (system_server Debug Help Needed!)

the new battery kernel seems pretty good! only problem I seem to be having is that my phon has a hard time waking up from sleep, with o/c and no o/c is the same. if i push the power button, I get a black screen, that will stay for a second, then my phone will go back to sleep. I have found the only way to properly wake it is if I hit the end call but even then it takes a second or 2 for the lock screen to come up. I am using the 1.28 build with the original system ext2 with it. before I switched to the battery I dont think I had this problem

Which kernel are you running? Sounds like you're only getting the partial wake issue, which is resolved for all (I thought). Sometimes the phone doesn't wake correctly, but it seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I haven't been able to recreate it - but I always wait at least 2s for the panel to wake - sometimes it does seem to take a little longer to wake up, methinks it's related to what the phone is doing at the time.

Here's a boot up with the system server issue through fixing it by dialing a number.

Re: [TESTING] Updated 2/2/11 New Kernel (system_server Debug Help Needed!)

Since it seems like you're collecting all sorts of logs of bad behavior in this thread, I have a SYSTEM_LAST_KMESG of the really rare condition where my phone is plugged in, and for no apparent reason it's power starts dropping 1% every few seconds.

This is the same bug I posted about a while back, where it drained out my battery so low that it was very difficult to charge it back up again.

I had it plugged in for a long time many hours, and I just happened to glance over when this was occurring and notice that the power was in freefall and down to 40%. Managed to shut it down at around 30% before it completely drained out the battery.

i downloaded tiads updated 1.28, and took the battery kernel and zimage file included, I dropped that into my 1.28 build which had the camera running(not the updated 1.28 but the original). I use taskiller to kill tasks, and even then it still does the same thing... is there an updated version of the battery kernel that fixes this problem? but other than that problem, I feel like my battery life has been dramatically increased!

I appreciate you wanting to run this kernel, but it doesn't seem like you're very keen on pulling logs for me.

This newest kernel should only be run if you're going to pull a dmesg for me. If you can't be bothered, then don't bother downloading it.

Also, all of the 4-buttons on the bottom wake my phone. I believe this is status quo.
