Perhaps it should be explained in the first page. I think more people would be willing to help out. If I happened to overlook the instructions, I apologize, I only got about 3 hrs of sleep last night... damn calc professor!

Had one unexpected reboot to Winmo the first time I loaded this, otherwise it's been smooth sailing. Will have comments on battery life later. Thanks for your hard work!

Ok thanks I'll use a terminal or OSMonitor to my dropbox

Started a fresh build.. First boot, installed/updated about 15-20 apps via market.. no reboot.

OK, 16 hrs straight with minimal use -> 55% drain. Very good in my book. I'm running at 614mHz; GPS is disabled. I don't have a lot of apps running in the background (I use taskiller to shut most down). :thumbleft:

I had one restart to WinMo but forgot to save the log; I believe I was using the browser at the moment.

Re: [TESTING] Updated 2/20/11 New Kernel - INSTA-sleep and INSTA-wake!!

Been playing with the latest build all day and it seems problem free so far. No failed wakes or sleeping problems though I don't use many auxiliary functions such as GPS or wifi on a regular basis. OC at 750 Mhz. Battery drain appears to be minimal, though I need more time for further analysis.

Just a thought, it would be nice to have the LED solid green with the ARM collapse then blink green when the rest of the phone goes to sleep.

ndno - have you tried dolphin mini. The hd version is sluggish but the mini version is ok imo.

Thanks for the recommendation. Dolphin mini is awesome! It's fast and I love the gesture feature.

With the 2/20/11 kernel im getting a reboot with skype as soon as the call ends. Im not sure if this is a general issue since this is the first sdcard kernel I've tested in a lonnnngg time.

Finally got FRX04 set up with this kernel, even OC'ing the batt life is great, no SOD's, no reboots (other than my original one), got 20.2 on neo and 607 on quadrant, no lag, everything running great. Doesn't wake up immediately every time, sometimes takes a double tap, but even then it's only a momentary delay and considering I can't compare to a native android device, I'm not complaining one freaking bit! Went to bed last night and woke up this morning with around 10% loss, nice work on this!!

Not sure, don't use skype. Reboots to WinMo are all over the board, anything from a bad SD card to something choking in the system image to a kernel panic because the battery code decided to divide by 0...

There's probably other reasons the phone reboots as well, lots of kinks to iron out. Not to mention one-offs like a particular app like this!! All I can say is test it with an autobuild kernel, and see if it still happens.

Honestly I really only care about testing in this thread. Testing what WisTilt2 has changed. If he hasn't changed it, I probably don't care about the feedback on it, as in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter - not trying to be mean, just that's how it is, this thread/kernel is for testing, and testing the specific things that have been changed :p.

Seems like everyone else has had good reports. I've been tracking usage while the phone is sleeping overnight, and I'm getting as low as .5%/hr drain in sleep, with all sync clocksync etc enabled. I don't sync 15 accounts, but hey, that's pretty freakin impressive.

Some of the RHOD100/AUO folk seem to be having a great experience at first, and then just slews of SoD's. Let me know if anyone else runs into that, I certainly haven't...

Just had a lock up, went to disable wifi using an onoff widget, it shut down and then just froze. Ended up having to reset and reboot. Ill load up the file when I get to my pc.

Edit: Just added my initial log file, but just had another "true" SOD, green light stayed on, couldn't do anything other than reboot back to winmo. So I'll leave this log file for now and when I reboot back I'll add the log file for the actual SOD. Is there anyway to attach the file here while in android, i.e. using tapatalk or any other way? maybe via browser?

Not sure where you got the skype app but if you're using the one I posted on Tiad8's thread, it was meant for an EVO. So I doubt if it would work "totally without issues".

The log shows problems in the kernel processing area related to the SD card driver, so it seems like there may be issues with your SD card. I'm just guessing based on the kernel messages so arrrghhh and his team should have a look at it.

It would be par for the course... I was having a lot of issues on earlier builds w/ an 8G class 8 card so I picked up the 8G from Newegg that you posted a link to and that's what I'm using now. I'll wait to see what Arrrghhh says and recommends and go from there. I'm going to up the most recent one which was a "true" SOD rather than the screen just freezing. I'll get that up shortly so everyone can take a look at that and compare them w/ the others.

Yea...

Code:

[33824.344818] mmc0: card 0001 removed
The system seems to have lost communication with your card, and pulled it. Not saying you pulled it, but the system couldn't find it and considered it removed...

LOL your second log just had a long list of these:
Code:

[ 6198.427185] active wake lock <NULL>

I feel bad for recommending that now. Just thought it was a great deal; it may still be a great card, not just great for Android use. I'm using a A-data 8GB Class 6 that never seems to have issues (knock-on-wood). At one point I had 6 Android distributions on it without ever reformatting and I still didn't have issues. Yeah, the new log does look like a "wake" issue.

Could the first one have happened because I shut off wifi and then it happened, come to think of it, it's the second time that happened. I wonder if something go borked when the phonewent from using wifi to trying to connect to data (If not, don't mind me, I'm just an idiot babbling).
the logs I'm grabbing appear to have a time on them which is close to when I boot back into android from winmo, not neccesarily when the "incident" occurred. Is that correct, or should I be looking for a different log?

It's kinda hard to locate which log is which, but they are in numerical order basically - last lost numerically is the last log the system generated.

Today I switched over to tiad8's Froyo X Red 3d Performance for the first time and tried it with this kernel. Very smooth and fast... had a couple reboots (one to android and one to winmo). Anyways, it's running pretty smooth; his system.ext2 image includes a lot of builtin apps or services compared to FRX04 so they're eating more RAM on his build; and hence more battery due to more background activities. Anyways, attached is a capture of the battery usage distribution from the Quick Settings app, 12+ hrs using 60% of the battery; I was using it here and there.

Got a Sleep of Death on 2/20/11. Phone was in my pocket, should have been getting good reception the whole time, light was green when I took it out of my pocket. No reaction to any button presses.

Like all of the SYSTEM_LAST_KMSG's I've ever pulled after a true SoD, this one shows corruption, though not as bad as some of the times I've seen.

I've noticed that my screen does not turn on with an incoming call all the time, but it rings normally. Not sure if this is a kernel issue or something else 3rd party.

Yeah, I've been getting those exact same lines on all my reboots. tty_ldisc sounds like the "touchscreen" driver. oops... nevermind, it sounds like a "ppp" issue meaning sometime relating to data communication.

arrrghhh/wistilt2, any patch for this? Found this:

Thanks, dl'ing it now :)

EDIT: Wow, talk about a clean screen! All the kernel log messages fit on 2/3 the screen with nothing else; I actually see the line "Welcome to Vogue Linux". :) Wow, booted to Android in like half a minute or less! Impressive.

EDIT: LED is blinking every 3 seconds when it's in deep sleep during charging. When it's not charging, it stays green solid in deep sleep.

Gonna download some more apps and see if I crash this thing.

Wow. Throwing everything at this kernel running FRX04 on top of it.. OCed at 614 mhz. I have wifi running streaming Enya on Pandora while I checked the scores on ESPN score center and surfing the net using Dolphin Mini, which is capable of flash contents (works but slow though). No sluggishness at all... I'm really impressed.

Anyone with a good soft keyboard replacement recommendation?

Edit: by the way, if you have wifi, use it! Amazing battery life with wifi!

Ummmmm, maybe... I was working within range of it and pulled the power plug, but don't know if the SOD occurred prior to that or after, I just grabbed the phone some time after I unplugged the airave and noticed it, so I can't confirm it happened before or after unplugging. I've rebooted back to FRX04 now knowing that the airave is off, so we'll see what happens. I even went back in and checked to make sure that was the correct log and it is, it's the only one from today.

BTW love the led notification now, and it does go to solid green quick. gotta get used to the new boot up though, I keep thinking something wrong lol

ndno 02-25-2011 02:16 PM

Hmmmm... no SOD on my end. I've pretty much been using the FRX04 build I have set up since last week (just swapping out kernel). I still get some failed wakes; by that I mean sometimes if my Tp2 goes into deep sleep and I haven't touched it for a while it may take several presses of the power button to wake it up; other than that, it's been solid since I switched over to this new kernel last night. No reboot to winmo yet. Been streaming pandora.

I did notice something new; when I missed a call; my tp2 blinks the green LED for about 30 seconds and then goes back to solid green. Nice... we got some notifications working there :) Didn't see this before.

Heh, hate to burst your bubble on this but that's just sleep state :p. Phone partially wakes to process notification, then goes back to sleep once it's done.
