Recursion, use one of these options (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2057316) to get the SYSTEM_LAST_MSG*.tar.gz log file and post it here.

Edit: Just checked again. Connected to PC via USB. Droid says ... "charged" && WinMo says 80%.

I fully charged on Android and switched to WinMo and it showed 100% at the beginning. Is everybody getting this or are they also starting at 80% on WinMo?

The level will be thrown off severely by heavy power drains such as cellular usage, which causes it to under-report your battery level by a lot, sometimes 30% or more, and it will go back up to normal afterwards. Battery reading is most accurate around 50% and least accurate at the extremes. Charging almost always works, but charging in Android will not top up your battery the last 10% or so you would get in WinMo. Also, uncommonly the phone will be plugged in and show as charging, but actually fail to charge, draining your battery unless you notice it (this can happen even if it was charging fine earlier and you didn't touch it).

I think you are right though because in WinMo i still have it charging and the light hasnt turned green yet. but its reads 100%. weird

I believe anish88 means his phone actually charged to 100% in Android versus the normal 80-85% others are getting.

oh yeah that is what i meant sorry, but it is taking long on WinMO to get the green light of fully charged to show.

Sometimes when I charged my phone fully under WinMo to a green light then unplugged it and plugged it right back in it would not show the green light for a good amount of time. This may be the case..hmm.

It may be due to the WinMo ROM you're using. If you're using the fast charge NUE battery driver, it may not be accurate at the full-charge end; that's a known issue with the NUE battery driver.

New kernel guys... Ridiculous new developments, all I really need to say is read the first post ;).

RHOD100/AUO folk - really need to be sure this doesn't blow up your phones, so let me know how it goes!

Oops! I've been running the kernel fine, but WisTilt2 said he missed a change of code. I pulled it for the time being, if you did manage to download it in the short time it was up sorry! Grab the new one in a few...

Thanks arrrghhh! I'll try the new kernel later. The previous one is pretty awesome, except for a couple restarts to WinMo in 2 days of usage. I'll try the new one sometime today.

On a side note, I got the admin/moderators of PPCGeeks to allow attachment of *.gz files :headbang::

So go ahead and post *.gz of the SYSTEM_LAST_KMSG logs from now on. *.tar and *.7z are also supported now. :)

Wow, there's no kidding when you mean "INSTA"! It's almost like wistilt2 is cheating with this new kernel. ;)
Now let's test the stability...

Off topic... arrrghhh, what are you using for browsing. The builtin one is painfully sluggish. I'm using Opera Mini but it has its problems (mainly because it caches stuff on an offsite server and full javascript support isn't there). Skyfire has a lot of features (like flash support) but is sluggish. For the meantime, I'm using Opera Mini because it loads fast.

That's what I told arrrghhh in IRC when I first saw this kernel
Code:

rpierce99: hahahaha he has to be cheating
EDIT: After thinking about it a bit more, I turned gps on, fired up Maps, and then powered down. The light went insta-green. I then woke the phone back up and the GPS icon was still on. We've never had full sleep with GPS enabled, so either this kernel is leaps and bounds ahead of previous kernels, or the green light is not accurate.

Wow. Excellent, and the slider seems to work instantly as well. Previously I had to wait maybe 1 sec. to unlock. Great work!

ndno - have you tried dolphin mini. The hd version is sluggish but the mini version is ok imo.

On topic - I don't think he's cheating... but I think he did change the way the sleep/green LED is reported to us now. He's reporting the ARM11 collapse. I think previously it was waiting for everything to collapse. So in a sense he's cheating since the LED now reports sleep differently, but from what I have gleaned it is accurately reporting ARM11 collapse... I'm by no means an expert on this topic however.

Edit - One sure-fire way to see if he is telling the truth, extended battery tests! So let's see how long the battery lasts, it'll be pretty dramatic drain if he is cheating...

Off topic - I haven't really played much with browsers TBH, but I've heard good things about fennec... Just haven't played with it yet, so I'm not really a good person to ask here ;).

Agreed. I noted that I'm still getting failed wakes after extended use of the kernel, but they're no more frequent than they were before with the last kernel (which was pretty infrequent IMHO). WisTilt2 doesn't think it's worth chasing, and if you want a full explanation see the update in the first post :p.

Agreed. FWIW, had last kernel running for 27 hours after a full charge (via WinMo/Neo1.31). It's now at 91% battery life. Very impressive! Notably, it was sleeping, GPS was off, and I've got full bars via Airave. Still, very nice.
Thanks for .gz work, bro.

Heh, there's a ton of other things to be done. 3.5mm is on the list, just sucks that not many devs have RHODs with 3.5mm jacks, so it's really not a priority... [/end OT]

I'll take a look at your logs, thanks. Beware of what I mention above ^^

for #2, if you have the 4-button aka 'hard button' LEDs on when you boot Android, they are stuck on while in Android.

I did a test on these with WisTilt2, and while he does have code to fix them they break other odd things like the sleep LED's color gets flipped, etc. So not a priority to fix at the moment, they will come in time... trust me ;).

As arrrghhh said, the buttons remaining lit is a residual from WinMo if they are already on. Just push the power button in WinMo to put it to sleep (leds will turn off) then push it again to wake up WinMo, then boot to Android.

ok I just started testing this kernel last night and here is my thoughts. My phone hasn't been insta wakin. I have to hit the button a few times but when it does light up the screen does seem to turn on much faster. Now I don't have to hit it multiple times everytime but def more than a few.

Oh one thing that I forgot is that the phones green light comes on immediately as the phone goes to sleep. I seen someone else post something about that. I have the same issue. Well I donno ifits an issue but it def hits deep sleep fast seems to good to be true.

Started using this kernel at about 11pm last night. Insta sleep for sure..about 30% of the time I have to hit the power multiple times to get it to turn on. Not too bad..I like how it goes to deep sleep when plugged in even! Sweeeet. Using FRX04 with an XDA rootfs for key functionality. It slept the whole not plugged in and woke up just fine.

Ok, I explained this (perhaps poorly) in the first post. WisTilt2 gave me another test kernel (not for distro, sorry :p) that simply blinks green when ARM11 collapses, and solid green when microp collapses. With GPS enabled, I only get blinking LED. Charging, USB, etc... blinking LED.

So the ARM11 is properly collapsing, but unfortunately in the kernel that has been released the solid green LED shows either ARM11 collapse or microp collapse. WisTilt2 said he had more work to do on mircop-related collapse, as in the 'lots of other PM-stuff still to fix'. So that's the low-down... the sleep LED previously only represented microp collapse, and now it represents both - or either or....

Arrrghhh, should I not try to set up a new build w/ the latest test kernel? I'm trying the new kernel and deleted the data/img and accidentally the touchscreen settings so it was creating both, and as soon as it finishes booting and settles down, it boots back to winmo. Do you want me to try to get any errors out of this, or just try resetting it up w/ a non test kernel?

So you're still getting reboots to WinMo no matter what? We should setup a chat sometime bro, I'm not having those kinds of problems at all...

Where are the logs found that you all are posting? I would love to contribute my logs but don't know where they're located in the phone (or how to create them?). Perhaps it should be explained in the first page. I think more people would be willing to help out. If I happened to overlook the instructions, I apologize, I only got about 3 hrs of sleep last night... damn calc professor!

So far it's going better now, no reboots after trying one last time (I think the phone knew I was complaining to you and decided to straighten up....lol). I just wasn't sure if it was because of the test kernel or not. I'm setting everything up again, i.e. emails, apps, etc and we'll see what happens. I also realized I had it OC'ing on first boot and removed that, so maybe that was it. Who knows at this point, but so far so good. And yeah, we'll chat soon, but my wifes pissing and moaning the same way everyones is in the Nand thread, lol... women just don't understand boys and their toys!

jae18708 02-21-2011 01:49 PM

I dont know if this is kernal or rootfs.. but I just switched to this kernel and noticed when device is unlocked on the lock screen, the menu button unlocks the device.
