Re: [TESTING] Updated 4/15/11 New Kernel - SCBS Added

Does Highlandsun's kernel or the autobuild kernel have WisTilt2's scbs stuff in it? After all the reading and mounting rootfs's and comparing the contents, I've been unable to understand if the scbs support is in the rootfs or in the kernel or are both needed? It seems for the last few days, I have been unable to get a combination of rootfs and zImage that let me set the keymapping, have the new RIL work and use SCBS all at the same time or am I missing something? I keep trying combinations of things and I must just be missing some crucial piece of magical tribal knowledge or something. So close and yet so far....

BTW, I have the latest ril, and highlandsun's oh so righteous everything else. I'm hanging back on the autobuild kernel at the moment. I used Spare Parts to remap the End button to home, but it would be cool to use all the other stuff from F22 and have the battery meter actually move in the same direction as time progresses..

Both are needed. rootfs tells the daemon to run, kernel has the actual SCBS support. The only kernel that has SCBS is this one, or the one from jonpry. I think hyc is working on pulling SCBS support into some of his test kernels, but I'm not sure if that's happened yet or not.

arrrghhh, Yer the bomb. I sometimes wonder if you and a lot of other people here and at XDA-dev work from home or just have bosses that don't wander around too much.

New update. There are some reports of SOD's on the newest autobuild kernel, this is a kernel that is very close to the newest autobuild, just with some changes. See the first post!

:) I'll test it when I get home from work...

I can't confirm but I don't believe that is covered in this release.

Tested.. no signal when waking up a cdma/gsm device...

Starfox 05-15-2011 04:52 PM

I posted some stuff under the same thread on XDA. I believe it explains the failed wakes from deep sleep even with the new kernel.

Baahhh... My device was working greatly in Android until it kernel panicked today and now all my apps are force closing... I'm gonna wait until the next major release to test more, with finals and school it's probably my best option. See ya in a couple weeks for Android testing... haha :)

Just run the fix_permissions.sh script (google it) and it will fix up your data.img

Did I make any mention of that...?

No, of course not. I'm pretty sure I'd mention something if it was... Unfortunately the bug was introduced with a HUGE clocks commit, and the devs haven't been able to figure out the issue... Also, I'm not aware of any developers using a CDMA device as GSM... Sorry.

I know, we have users from all over the world. We have devs from all over the world. Just all of the devs (that I know) with CDMA devices use them as CDMA, and if they use GSM, they have a GSM device...

So perhaps you should help out and try to fix the clocks commit :p. Seriously, it got some dev attention but they got stuck and moved on to other things that concern them. Obviously problems that are on their phone are going to bug them more than an issue on your phone ;).

Confirmed, no more SOD and seen very stable for me now except "no signal after sleep then wake up" :(

Still waiting for new update :-)

I have attached my dmesg, hope this will help to solve that problem. Thanks for contributing :)

Still a clocks issue, that hasn't been fixed... I don't see any mention of that fix on that stated in the first post - not sure why you would assume it would be fixed.

Re: [TESTING] Updated 5/14/11 New Kernel - Temp Test - SOD Fix!

I was using FRX06 - GIT (Feb 28 / 1276), and rootfs from GIT (Feb. 24) - RHOD 500.

I was getting frequent SOD's and restarts.

So - per Arghhhh's suggestion - I just downloaded the files from this thread and replaced them in my SD card (from 5/14).

My observation...

1. Battery life has improved. =D>
2. No SOD in the past few hours.. Once it got stuck in SOD - but I was able to get it out after some persistent trials. :headbang:
3. The first 3 times - my phone got hanged. It loaded properly and I opened the following apps and after each app - it hanged and I had to pull out my battery to reboot..
a. Market b. Gtalk c. browser ](*,)
4. After 4-5 hangs and battery pulling - It was working with more stability without any SOD's.

I also did not get any issues waking up and having no signals..

But - after few hours - again now - my phone is hanged, I am on call and I am not able to do anything, The screen just stays in dial mode and nothing is working. But, surprisingly the speaker and microphones are working and am still on call.. But nothing else is working.. :???:

Other thing is - I tried to do a conference call - and it did not work. It was dialing the second number but it just disappears and I get connected to the first call..

I will continue to post what I observe.. Hope this helps..

I am a total noob. I am trying to get that dmesg.txt that others are talking about to help with more data. the least I cud do !!! :(

5/14 is only a temporary test. 4/15 is probably a better kernel (believe it or not.. and I'm pretty sure I recommended that one, but dyslexia on either side could be a factor here, those dates are ridiculous :p)

Random hangs do happen, but that's a strange one. I keep blaming SD cards, not sure what the actual cause is.

Issue with the stock RIL. hyc's made a new RIL, has nothing to do with this thread or any kernel for that matter...

Re: [TESTING] Updated 5/14/11 New Kernel - Temp Test - SOD Fix!

Oops.. I meant 4/15.. The file named - wistilt2-kernel-pack_4.15.zip

Stock RIL - If you meant radio that I am using - When I loaded Energy ROM - I updated to VZW 2.37 I think... If that's not what you meant - well.. I ill try to search a bit and know..

Oh yeah - other thing is - the boot time has reduced a lot with this kernel from 4/15.. It boots up in a jiffy..

Re: [TESTING] Updated 5/14/11 New Kernel - Temp Test - SOD Fix!

Oh yeah. another thing I noticed - I was about my phone (in android) I noticed that - the battery icon on the status bar was nearly full but when I ran haret from windows - it was 55% or so.. (the famous batter issue!!!)

But !! - when I was saw the lock screen after a few minutes charging - it showed Charging (57%) ... which kinda nets to what the actual charging would have been..

Coincidence may be!!

Not a single SoD... But - umpteen hangs... I managed to run continuously for a few hours only a couple of times in the past 2 days.

Do you have a different SD card to try? Gotta start ruling stuff out.

Re: [TESTING] Updated 5/14/11 New Kernel - Temp Test - SOD Fix!

The last 3-4 times I re-booted - it just hanged after it booted into Android. I just let it settle down for a few min - and then gone..

So went back to the original FRX06 build and it was stable. It struggled for a couple of times to "wake up" but eventually managed after some persuasion... got 1 SOD...

I tried again today with the kernel from 4/15 - and it hanged again without me even opening any app or anything..

Also - am getting "download unsuccessful" for any app I try to download now.

I have another SD card that I use with CLIQ XT.. Will try to use that and update.
