Wanted to thank the guys who were helping me yesterday (ooxtreme, lemeiux1, proxhack and of course Arrrghhhh watching over the thread), got the phone up and running nice, now just need to update to the latest kernel posted by arrrghhhh! I already hit the thanks but wanted to say it too. And yes, I got the phone working along with most of the bathroom issues, except that the sink still leaks a little... that's tonight's fix, AFTER I update to the latest kernel!!!

Yes, I would set the value to 1.

Also, not sure if I ever saw the greenI LED lit up, it has gone that far to sleep in the past, so I'll have to dig into that closer, any suggestions?

I definitely see some green action now from the LED, mostly green when the phone sits unplugged, so I guess it's sleeping. Is the kernel option pm.sleep_mode=0 necessary for 20 hrs of battery life?

Green=Sleep, Orange=Wake. WisTilt2 was gracious enough to match his LED pattern to the main kernel, even tho he doesn't agree with it :p

At any rate, if you're not sleeping there's a couple of bugs related to sleep - for some reason, I found the phone won't sleep if the GPS sats are checked in Location&Security. Seems dumb, but I can't even have that setting enabled - even if nothing is actively polling the GPS radio. I've already got a bug open on it.

Glad to be of service ;). I'll keep updating as soon as I get new stuff in!

Performance is much better than before. Keyboard backlight is a huge boon.

Anyone having issues w/ the screen dimming regardless of what settings you use? Mine seems to be doing it often, unless it's just the post New Years Eve hangover fog clearing...

ok so after a day of testing the keyboard light is good to go, but the speakerphone mic still doesnt work for me. I tried using tikl and no one can hear me but I can hear them just fine,

someone said before if you start android during a phone call with the speaker on it will fix it but so far that hasnt worked either

anyone know how to get it working?

EDIT: Nevermind, the second time I started android with a phone call in speaker first worked, cant wait til we dont have to do that lol

EDIT 2: After making a phone call, its back to being broke again

The speakerphone mic is enabled for phone calls... No clue if tikl works or not, let's focus on the phone portion for the time being. Speakerphone mic has worked flawlessly for me and many others, so I'm a little confused why it's not working for you.

Ok sorry Arrrghhh, I just assumed that it was all in the same since both in call speakerphone mic and speakerphone mic in tikl worked with the "speakerphone in wm" trick I was talking about.

thanks for the clarification

np, so does that mean speakerphone mic works for you in normal phone calls...?

We can address issues with apps like tikl at a later date. I was hoping the fix for Google voice search would fix other apps as well, evidently not.

That's good. Not sure why tikl isn't working, but like I said we can address that later as it's an entirely different beast ;)

I've been on this new kernel for the past few days and it is fast and solid. Love the kb backlight! So much easier then typing in the dark.

Re: [TESTING] New Kernel (Speakerphone mic/keyboard bl!!!)

I am going to try another run tomorrow on battery life to see if it wont last longer than 7 hours. I don't know if it is common knowledge, but it seems that once I use the GPS the phone doesn't want to go back into full sleep. If I disable GPS in Settings, the LED goes green after 30-60 seconds. I've waited several minutes after using GPS and not disabling it in system settings and had yet to see the LED go green while powered down.

Works great here too. Not sure if related but can turn off tethering notification which haven't seen before.

Have to touch the panel everytime to wake up the phone. I found sliding out the keyboard is a workaround.

Yea, I've noticed it's more frequent with this kernel. Basically if the device is sleeping, you'll have to touch the screen to wake it up. Didn't know the kbd slide trick, thanks!

Haven't spoke with WisTilt2 in a couple of days, but I believe this is his next fix. Hopefully I'll get that new kernel today, no promises tho ;)

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) this is a reported bug, I have it open on the bug tracker. Definitely an odd one, and not very frequently reported - thanks for pointing this out, because if your phone doesn't sleep - your battery will die MUCH quicker!

Re: [TESTING] New Kernel (Speakerphone mic/keyboard bl!!!)

Phone battery life has been astounding today so far now that I have turned off the GPS. The green LED sleep has been consistent as well. Maybe I can find an app that will place an easy GPS on/off toggle on the home screen? Seems like an ok thing to do for the meantime. The screen has woken up every time so far, so if the build from 1/2/2011 has the new display sleep code that acl has been hoping to add to the nand build it is working very well so far.

I use the Power Panel widget that is already available. Has a GPS on/off toggle.

Re: [TESTING] New Kernel (Speakerphone mic/keyboard bl!!!)

This is working very well for me. I've only noticed a couple of issues:

1. sometimes when I'm typing with the keyboard it skips a few letters here and there, seems to happen if i'm trying to type just as the backlight is turning off.

2. the brightness keeps dimming on its own, over and over... i go in and play with the brightness settings to restore it to full brightness, and within minutes the screen is not at full brightness even though the display settings say that it is.

Hrm... Not sure what can be done about #1, I'll mention it. #2 has been mentioned before, I'll definitely bring it to WisTilt2's attention. Curious, if you set it to auto does it work correctly?

about #2, it probably does because it seems like it always wants to be the brightness level that you get when you have it set to auto... but i prefer full brightness so that's what i have mine set as.

I've tried using full brightness and also auto and it still dims, although when you go in to check the settings, the settings are the same, still on full bright even though it's dim.

Hrm, seems userland settings and the kernel aren't playing nice. I hope to talk to WisTilt2 today, haven't seen him in a couple of days...

I can't recreate this bug. I set my brightness all the way up, and it stays. I'll go thru a few sleep/wake cycles to see if it sticks...

Yea, mine's been flaking out a lot lately as well, in addition to the system_server bug.

Also, I was able to recreate the brightness issue - but to those experiencing it, usually on the next sleep/wake cycle the brightness would return. I'll definitely mention it to WisTilt2, I'm sure he's experienced it as well. Really wish he'd pop back in... I'm so very impatient, and there's so much in the way of feedback I'd like to relay to him ;)

FYI, I took this kernel and integrated Tiad8's 3d driver and other related files into one package; you can grab it here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2030241

Keyboard backlight works great!

Ok I'm assuming you dont have android up and running yet, so I would say you need to start with reef's sticky here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...reference.html

either DL the .rar from his site and place the files on the root of your SD card or grab the .cab (which is easier) and just click it and install to SD card. Then come back here and grab the 2 files from the first post, one is zimage, the other modules. Simply replace those files on your storage card in the andboot folder and you are good to go

EDIT: It says you have diamond though and these files are only for the rhodium so you can still use reef's android but I wouldnt use the files in this thread as they are not designed for your device!

Great! thank you. It appears to work fine. I actually have a TP2. Any advice on getting back to the home screen with out having to press the back button multiple times..... Still learning but I hope to make this my new OS for this phone.... Win 6.5 is boring..... :headbang:

Don't mean to be rude, but let's keep this thread just for testing feedback. If it's an issue with all builds (like this one), then ask in the main thread.

With that said, use spare parts to remap end key to be home, or see this thread.
