make a basic android update just for busybox and su for any builds. If people are too lazy to install this on their own, then they can download it this way. Just post it and i'll upload it to the server for the masses.

I dont want to include this in the build. Just not aosp and its not a flexible solution.

Cool. I'll see what I can do about that. su isn't working for me even with it in /system/bin/, so I'm seeing what I can do with androidupdate.tgz to fix that. Probably won't be done tonight, but if LMiller doesn't beat me to it, I'll post something up tomorrow ;)

OK, so it still isn't as stable as FRX05 was for me, and I'm not sure why. Here's the download for my kernel with androidupdate.tgz: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

I recommend on first boot to wait for everything to load, then power off the phone, then power it back on. Now log into Market, then download and install busybox, then grab Titanium Backup. Also, you will want to grab Spare Parts and set the end key to Home... I need to spend some time messing with our navipad to see if I can fix that.

Edit: Also, note that this has a minor change to the mtdparts. It seems the last 16 MB of our NAND should not be written to, so I have made that adjustment. Also, I am currently having issues with wifi on this build, but I haven't figured out what is causing it yet. Grabbing dmesg right now.

Nate I have my buttons mapped correctly. I took the files from HERE, so thanks should go to manekineko. This is in my androidupdate.tgz.
Did you see my note about the wifi? We need to figure out a better way to deal with that...

Did you try out the new method of creating the NBH's? Still not totally sure that is going to work... You will be the test!

I say let them Install it on there own, for now... This is just for testing and if they can't do that, well... When NAND builds start getting pushed out by the cooks they can include all of that.

I also don't want to see a million NBH's around here... Unless the autobuild is behind... Which it currently is and I did not catch that before my post.

How is your button map set up? It seems the end button puts the phone to sleep, and the top button (power? sleep? not sure what to call it) only goes home...

Wifi does not appear to be working for me...

I can install it... just not sure what I am installing, and where to find it. so far I have been lucky enough to have it installed in the build...

Points to add -

I have yet to lose my data connection on this build!! :notworthy:

Waking seems to work 'slightly' better... but not much.

A slightly off topic question (PM me if you would like to not reply in the thread)...

Anyone got a good way of maintaining their widget layout between flashes? I have tried a couple of methods, but lose them every time. Very frustrating as I keep 25-30 favorite contact widgets on my pages...

You can try this. Edit this line in sysinit.rc from the androidupdate.tgz:

Change this:
Code:

service ril-daemon /system/bin/rild -l /system/lib/libhtcgeneric-ril.so -- -d /dev/smd0
To:
Code:

service ril-daemon /system/bin/rild -l /system/lib/libhtcgeneric-ril.so

did that and it worked :d now... i have managed to boot up with simcard in but android does not see it i think:-l [ps: i know this is not for GSM]

This is expected behavior.

Works for me, make sure the modules match!

I use ADW EX - this launcher can save the layout of the homescreens. I'm sure other aftermarket homescreen apps can do this too.

Hmm all my previous builds have had the top button act more like a power button - and it would put the screen to sleep.

As for making sure modules match - you lost me here!! :newb:

I have used the ADW launcher... and had a nice backup from it, and when I restored, about 75% of my widgets came up as 'problem loading'. Seems from their bug-list its expected behavior with aftermarket widgets, and is said to be a core android issue... Is there a difference in the EX launcher?

Yeah, so the issue with button mappings was because I had used the autobuild kernel. Once I used the latest kernel, it worked normally. Then I figured out you had a new navipad (which rocks btw).

For wifi, I haven't been able to root it yet (no USB sucks), so I haven't been able to remove the file from /data yet.

Not yet. I was hoping to start off my day looking at this, but I've been slammed all day here at work.

For root, it's just a hassle and more work for people when the solution should be fairly simple on our side. Eventually it will fall to the chefs, but we need to standardize an androidupdate.tgz they can build from.

Awesome, so we have an official rhod100 GSM that booted into Android with the SIM card in?

Nate that sounds good. I will just upload my update.tgz with the su, superuser.apk, and busybox.apk included. It will make it better.
This will also include the keymappings. :)

It only boots up if you play with the stylus in and out(i know that sounds bad) and not every time... but it does , i've booted 4 times...

Re: NAND Boot Testing - 04-06: FRX06 on NAND (Testing FRX06 now!)

I read a bit but cant make it through the 100 pages.
If i want to flash back to winmo how hard is it to do?
I would love to play around with andriod on nand but cant do it full time yet.
