Blank/black screen app, touch screen or back button to resume

A little background: I use my Evo to listen to music in my car using doubleTwist and a bluetooth to FM transmitter (Motorola T505), and like to have the controls and album art up while it is going. I put my phone in a simple dash cradle, so it isn't actually docked or anything. Right now I'm using Screen On Toggler to enable me to have it keep the screen on and not go to standby+locked. This works for my commutes which are relatively short (~1 hour or less), but on trips I either have to plug-in or let it go to standby, as it kills the battery of course to leave it on. To get controls to skip track, etc I have to fumble to hit the power button which is inconvenient and then swipe to unlock.

What I would really like is for it to timeout like normal, but instead of going to full standby to just blank the screen and allow me to wake it by preferably touching the screen, or at least by maybe hitting the back button. I've found some apps that blank the screen, but I have to exit dT to turn them on, and they usually only return the screen to normal by hitting the home button, which dumps me back to the home screen and I have to relaunch dT. I've been searching for apps but can't find any that do this. Is there anything, or maybe a different music player that has the option? I'm not married to dT, I just like it because it has decent size buttons that work well for use in the car and large album art as well. The default android music app buttons are bit small to work with in the car, so that's why I found dT.

Ack sorry about the wall of text, and thanks! I'm going on a short trip (~3 hours or so) this weekend to a friend's cabin and have been trying to find something that works to use on the trip.
