lol!!!!! just because it's black.
an argument could be made that black uses all the colors without dimming the backlight, so it actually uses more power.

If we had led screens this would be true, but alas, the color of the screen doesn't affect an lcd backlight.

something tells me that if we had led screens we wouldn't be whining about battery life.
