Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you download this from the market, sprint can see the apps downloaded from the maket, and the app requires root....

Can someone please help me out with this. I have the Epic and I know I'm rooted because I'm using Ultimate Juice defender, Titanium Backup etc. However, after I installed MSL Reader I get the following message:

"ERROR: /dev/smd0 does not exist. This phone is not compatiable"

The read MSL button is also grayed out. Any ideas?

Without root:

adb shell getprop

look for
[ril.MSL]: [xxxxxx]
where xxxxxx = msl

(Google adb and download the SDK. It will contain adb.exe. Phone must be in USB debug mode.)

You can also download connectbot from the market, select local host, type in a name, and then type getprop at the command prompt. Like jason said, scroll down to ril.msl

For rooted phones, download msl reader from market. Im sure its already been mentioned but im too lazy to search.

Edit. Damn. I replied already about how great msl reader is. Ha.
